The Conservatory
About the Business
Welcome to The Conservatory, located at 17 Jellicoe Street in Auckland, New Zealand. Established in 2011, we are proud to be the first "living bar" in the world, with a unique living wall of plants that creates a vibrant and natural atmosphere. Situated in the heart of Auckland city center and right on the waterfront, our establishment is a point of interest for both locals and tourists.
As an individually owned and operated free trade bar and restaurant, The Conservatory offers a truly unique experience. Our food is made fresh daily on-site, using the highest quality produce, which is predominantly locally sourced and free range. Being located on a working wharf, we can guarantee that our seafood is fresh off the boat.
What sets us apart from other venues in New Zealand is our ever-evolving drinks list. Unlike many establishments that are limited by agreements with big breweries, our drinks selection is based solely on quality and is carefully curated by our passionate team.
But don't just take our word for it, let our customers do the talking. They rave about the delicious gin fizz drinks, the mouthwatering pizzas, and the fast and friendly service. The stunning waterfront view adds to the overall experience, making The Conservatory a place worth returning to.
Whether you visit for lunch, dinner, or drinks, you can expect excellent service, a relaxing ambience, and a well-balanced menu. Families with young children are also welcome, as our staff can adapt our dishes to accommodate their needs.
If you're a fan of mussels, pizza, or craft beers and cocktails, The Conservatory is a must-visit. Our exceptional food, great selection of beverages, and friendly staff make it a go-to spot for both locals and visitors alike.
Join us on a sunny afternoon, enjoy the good tunes, and indulge in our great gin and tonics. You might find yourself trying our calamari, mussels, or even our delicious burger, which is known to be one of the biggest in Auckland.
For seafood lovers, our mussels and octopus are highly recommended, and our extensive wine list offers a perfect pairing. And for dessert, don't miss our cacao and coconut-based mousse with fresh citrus fruits and toasted quinoa crumble.
You can find us at 1-17 Jellicoe Street, North Wharf, Wynyard Quarter, Auckland. We are open Monday to Thursday from 12:00 pm till late, and Friday to Sunday from 11:30 am till late.
Come and experience the unique charm of The Conservatory, where exceptional food, drinks, and service await you.

"Wait staff were all very accomodating and friendly , our large group of 28 were very well taken care off, food, especially the pizzas were amazing! It’s so good that my team dive right into it before I had the chance to take photos! Would definitely return"
"I ordered the pork belly, a longer than expected wait was made up by the quality of the presented food. Melt in the mouth slow cooked pork topped with thin crip crackling. Served with caramelised onion, pickled courgette, buttery mash, served with red wine jus, and topped with sliced kumera chips. Accompanied by a glass of Sawmill Hazy - overall, a very satisfying meal, thank you."
"The Ocean's Catch pizza is hands down my favourite meal from their menu! Order it if you haven't tried it yet and make sure they give you slices of lemon (they didn't when I was there last). Kumara fries are also delish - crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Good service and really great location especially in the summer when the wind is welcome as you're sat at one of their outdoor tables. I'll always go back here for the Ocean's Catch pizza and I pray it'll never be removed from the menu. So...I went back for this recently with my bestie and I have to say my usual pizza was not as impressive. The base was soggy and the ingredients were quite sparse i.e. not enough "Catch" so wasn't as happy as I usually am. It needs a slightly fluffier base to withstand the oil from the salmon. The salmon is the best part of the pizza - well all of it is but there just wasn't enough on this visit. Kumara fries were decent as usual so good to see some consistency maintained."
"amazing food, in the harbor at the most central point along with all the other restaurants, walking distance from the hotel. very helpful and friendly staff, there were a lot of people in the restaurant it was full, we had a reservation. we got several dishes for two people and ate them all because they were delicious. amazing"
"The place was almost full when we came. Seated in a breeze as we had a reservation. Ordered their Aug special, wine & mains came first before our oyster appitizer. The beef cheek was so tender & fish had the crispy side. Late came our bread entree, needing no dessert as we were full to the brim. Would love to go back, hopefully there will be no service mishaps."
