Skylight
About the Business
Welcome to Skylight, a trusted institution located at Wellington, Vivian Street, 7 in New Zealand. As an establishment and point of interest, we are dedicated to supporting children, young people, and their whānau (family) in navigating through tough times by building resilient individuals and communities.
At Skylight, we understand that change and loss can evoke various thoughts, feelings, and reactions, which are collectively known as grief. We provide a Resilience Hub, consisting of an online resource site filled with articles, videos, links, an online shop, and a physical hub that offers personalized information, support, counseling services, and access to our library.
We recognize the importance of healthy relationships, including romantic ones, in bringing deep joy and connection. However, we also understand that relationships require effort and work. That is why Skylight receives numerous requests for information and support regarding LGBTQI issues from young people, whānau, and those working with them.
In addition, we acknowledge that illness and disability can bring about grief due to the loss of health. Violence, whether physical or threatened, becomes an abusive action when it instills fear in another person. Skylight aims to provide assistance and resources to address these challenging situations.
Resilience is the ability to bounce back when facing tough times, enabling us to cope effectively. We are here to support you, your whānau, and others after a disaster, offering guidance and resources tailored to your specific needs.
Trauma can result from a one-time event, such as an earthquake, or from multiple adverse experiences over time, such as domestic violence. Skylight is equipped to provide support and resources to help individuals navigate through these traumatic experiences.
The death or anticipated death of someone significant can cause profound grief and sadness, regardless of the cause. When someone takes their own life, we refer to it as death by suicide. Skylight is here to offer support and guidance during these difficult times.
Sometimes, children and young people exhibit behavior that indicates they are struggling to manage something. We understand that this can be challenging, and we are here to assist in any way we can.
Skylight is committed to helping you through difficult times. We offer a variety of services, including free information and support packs from our resource center, access to our specialist library, professional development training, and counseling support for children, young people, family/whānau, and individuals facing tough times.
Explore our online shop, featuring Skylight's own publications and other specialist titles from New Zealand and around the world. You can easily search for titles, keywords, or category headings by clicking the shop button.
At Skylight, we believe in getting the right help at the right time, in the right way. Let us support you on your journey towards resilience and healing. Visit us today or reach out for assistance.
