Glendowie College
About the Business
Welcome to Glendowie College, located at Crossfield Road in Auckland, New Zealand. As an esteemed establishment, point of interest, and secondary school, we take pride in providing a comprehensive education to our students.
Next week, we are excited to participate in the 2023 Winter Tournament Week. This event holds great importance for our students who are passionate about team sports. It is a highlight of their time at school, as they have the opportunity to compete at a top-level tournament. Our Glendowie College teams will be showcasing their skills and representing our institution in tournaments held in Wellington, Taupō, Hamilton, Pukekohe, Tauranga, Whanganui, and Henderson. We wish them the best of luck in their endeavors.
Before our students embark on this exciting journey, I would like to encourage them to give their best effort, work collaboratively as a team, support one another, and represent Glendowie College with pride. It is crucial for them to enjoy themselves throughout the experience. I would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the parents, community members, and staff who are involved in managing, coaching, or supporting our teams. Without your dedication and support, our teams would not be able to participate and thrive.
Additionally, I would like to express my gratitude to the Year 12 and 13 parents who participated in the conferencing held on Thursday. This initiative was implemented to provide valuable advice and guidance on prioritizing studies for the upcoming school and NCEA exams. By focusing on the aspects identified during the conferencing, our students will have ample time to revise and prepare for these important exams. The exams, starting on 5 September, hold significance as they will determine derived grades for students who are unable to sit the external NCEA exams due to illness or injury.
Moreover, I want to remind our Year 11 students to prepare for their NCEA MCAT exam on 12 September. Additionally, Year 11 exams will take place in Term 4, starting on 16 November. Similar to the Year 12 and 13 students, there will be conferencing sessions for Year 11 students and their parents or caregivers prior to these exams. These sessions will provide valuable guidance to help students prioritize their learning.
In this election year, it is interesting to observe how politicians vie for your votes. However, as the President of the New Zealand Principals' Federation, Leanne Otene, wisely stated, education should not be used as a political football. We need a bipartisan approach that focuses on the well-being and future of our students. Our young people deserve an education system that prioritizes their needs, rather than partisan politics.
At Glendowie College, we are committed to providing our students with a nurturing and inclusive environment that fosters their academic, personal, and social growth. We strive to create well-rounded individuals who are ready to face the challenges of the future. Join us on this exciting journey of education and personal development at Glendowie College.

"really bad school. i went into the bathrooms and i saw 2 guys getting it on. really bad school don't send your kids here"
"This school is so useless and one of the math teachers is honestly so terrible and deserves minimum wage at this rate. He doesn't even teach anything and then expects my poor daughter to understand the work. This is so disappointing do NOT send your kid to this school #vapenation"
"Vaping is a massive problem at this college, as you can see from the other reviews. Overall I wouldn't recommend sending your children to this school unless you want them to become nicotine addicts."
"A medium to small sized public coed high school. The students are all from local suburbs such as St Heliers. The teachers are experienced and committed. The students are talented, at least some."
