Tamaki College
About the Business
Welcome to Tamaki College, located on Taniwha Street in Auckland, New Zealand. Since 1957, our institution has been dedicated to shaping the lives of young people and providing them with a high-quality education. As a proud co-educational College, we are fully committed to excellence and ensuring the success of every student.
At Tamaki College, our school values of Respect, Innovation, Success, and Excellence serve as the foundation for teaching and learning. We are known as the original Manaiakalani Secondary School, and our Digital Learning and IT programs are among the most advanced in the country. Our goal is to graduate confident, respectful, and independent learners who are well-prepared for their future endeavors.
We take pride in our biculturalism and celebrate the diversity of our student body. We provide numerous opportunities to raise awareness and promote respect for all cultures and backgrounds within our community. We encourage the involvement of our whanau, parents, and caregivers to help build a strong and active relationship with Tamaki College, as their support plays a vital role in fulfilling our school vision.
One of our remarkable success stories is Solesia, a Tamaki College graduate who went on to attend university in New Zealand and then transferred to Brigham Young University – Hawaii. Solesia recently graduated with a double major in political science and social work and has had the opportunity to travel to New York City and Bangkok as part of her studies. Her experiences have reinforced her passion for bringing about positive change in the lives of troubled youth. Solesia plans to return to New Zealand to complete her application to Brigham Young University's Public Administration Masters Program and ultimately work for the United Nations while starting a non-profit organization to support Maori and Pacific Island youth.
We also offer a Student Web Portal, which allows students and their caregivers to access important information online. Additionally, we provide online resources to support students' learning and encourage their utilization.
Tamaki College operates under an enrollment scheme approved by the Ministry of Education. Our dedicated staff and Fusion engineers are available to assist with any issues or troubleshooting regarding our devices and technology.
Please note that the devices issued to students are the property of Tereora Academy and not the College. If any damage or breakage occurs while in the student's care, they will be responsible for the repair or replacement cost. We have a limited number of loan devices available, with priority given to NCEA students and those who had previously handed in devices for repair.
We are proud to be involved in various community development projects, such as Project RISE, a collaboration between Tāmaki Connect Trust and Tamaki College. This initiative aims to create better connections, experiences, opportunities, and pathways for our students and their families to thrive.
Tamaki College also partners with organizations like Pasifika Futures Limited and the Pacific Medical Association to provide diverse opportunities for our students and the wider community. We are also a member of AIMHI (Achievement in Multi Cultural High Schools), a group of nine urban secondary schools serving Maori and Pacific Islands backgrounds.
We strive to create a welcoming and supportive environment at Tamaki College, where students feel like they are part of a family away from home. We are dedicated to their success and are excited to help them navigate their educational journey.
Welcome to Tamaki College, where excellence and success are at the heart of everything we do.

"People are helpful and friendly..."
"I was the driver of a bus that returned a group of pupils from camp Adair to this school. Thankyou guys for your behavior and manners. A credit to your school and parents."
"It's a cool school for us all and there is a gym for us to work out and yeah all good lol."
"Tamaki College is a bad school. The shops is near it so kids go walk out of school to buy food they want and then just skip school. I caught some kids smoking one time. They always swear. All the time I see kids walking around in the night wearing they're uniform. Bad influences on each other. The students there are bad. Teachers don't even teach properly. Also when there are fights teachers are not there to stop it fully."
"Terrific family and community, some of the best teachers"
