Manukau Central Kindergarten

Welcome to Manukau Central Kindergarten, a beloved institution nestled in the heart of Auckland, New Zealand. Since 1988, we have been an integral part of our vibrant and diverse community. Many of our children have parents who also attended our kindergarten, showcasing the strong bonds we have formed over the years.

Located on Inverell Avenue, we are conveniently situated near Wiri Central School, with whom we have strong connections. The majority of our children seamlessly transition from our kindergarten to the school next door, ensuring a smooth educational journey.

At Manukau Central Kindergarten, we place great emphasis on building and maintaining strong relationships with both children and their parents/whanau. We believe that parents play a vital role in their child's learning journey and encourage their active involvement through parent help, sharing crafts and skills, and shared lunches.

Our curriculum is highly responsive to the interests of the children, allowing them to lead their learning through play. With well-resourced classrooms, our teachers foster a nurturing environment that promotes curiosity, trust, perseverance, confidence, and responsibility. We assess learning outcomes in various areas, including contribution, communication, belonging, well-being, and exploration.

Literacy, numeracy, and Te Reo (the Māori language) are seamlessly incorporated into our daily activities. We believe in providing a holistic educational experience that nurtures all aspects of a child's development.

As part of our commitment to outdoor play, we offer water and sand play activities. Our teachers carefully consider weather conditions when planning these activities, ensuring the safety and comfort of our children. We kindly request that all children carry a complete change of clothes daily to keep them warm and dry.

The well-being of our children is of utmost importance to us. We have established relationships with support services such as Plunket, the Ministry of Health (for hearing and vision), and the Ministry of Education (for speech-language therapy), who provide assistance in maintaining our children's health and well-being.
