Horizon School

Welcome to Horizon School, a vibrant institution located in Snells Beach, New Zealand. With a holistic approach to learning, we cater to students from primary to college, providing them with a nurturing and welcoming environment.

At Horizon, we believe in guiding children on a journey of learning, growth, and faith. Our Christian foundations instill a sense of identity and purpose in young people, allowing them to live life to the fullest while experiencing the wonders of God around them.

For students in Years 1-6, our focus is on establishing strong foundations for learning. In our inclusive environment, children feel a sense of belonging and are loved by their teachers and peers. They are encouraged to be themselves, love learning, and embrace both failure and growth without fear. We believe that through diverse experiences and the ability to articulate them, children can grow in confidence, forming the basis for all future learning.

In Years 7-10, our students learn to think like scientists, authors, artists, mathematicians, sportspeople, and psychologists. With insights from real-world professionals, we develop critical and creative thinking skills, enabling learners to see the relevance of their education in all aspects of life. We provide them with foundational skills to engage deeply with subjects they will study for NCEA. Moreover, our students are truly known, seen, and heard in this supportive environment.

As our students progress to senior college, they engage in relevant, authentic, and engaging learning experiences. Through Formation Learning, Connected Learning, and Enriched Learning, they develop essential skills, recognize connections between different subjects and real-life contexts, and earn credits. We prepare our students for university, business, or trades, equipping them to use their education in meaningful ways to enrich both their own lives and the local community.

Our school operates on a term basis, with Term 1 running from 7th February to 6th April, Term 2 from 26th April to 30th June, Term 3 from 17th July to 22nd September, and Term 4 from 9th October to 15th December. Please note the holiday periods between terms.
