Wellington Cadet Centre

Welcome to the Wellington Cadet Centre, located at 393 Evans Bay Parade in Wellington, New Zealand. We are a renowned establishment and point of interest that falls under the category of a school. However, we are not just any ordinary school - we are part of the New Zealand Cadet Forces (NZCF), a voluntary and uniformed organization that offers military-style leadership, personal development opportunities, and adventure-based training to young individuals aged between 13 and 19 years old.

The NZCF consists of three branches: Sea Cadets, Army Cadets, and Air Cadets. Through these branches, we provide a hands-on nationally coordinated training program that offers challenges and opportunities unlike any other organization. Our local, regional, and national courses further enhance the experience by providing additional experience and qualifications in specific training areas.

As a non-profit organization, the Cadet Forces has been serving the youth of New Zealand since 1864, and in its present form since 1971. We have a strong partnership with the New Zealand Defence Force and locally appointed community organizations, making us the oldest youth organization in the country.

At the Wellington Cadet Centre, our aim is to instill leadership and honorable values in our youth, enabling them to become self-disciplined, confident, and responsible young New Zealanders. We believe in equipping our cadets with lifelong skills that will empower them throughout their lives.

By participating in our unique adventurous, fulfilling, and educational activities in a military-like environment, cadets have the opportunity to develop a sense of purpose, responsibility, self-confidence, self-respect, self-discipline, self-reliance, leadership ability, and commitment to voluntary service. Many former cadets have attested to the positive impact the cadet experience had on their personal growth, leadership qualities, and sense of community service.

For adults interested in volunteering or former cadets wishing to return as instructors, we offer opportunities to join as an Officer or Adult Supervisor.
