Welcome to Regional Public Health, located at Lower Hutt Hospital on High Street in New Zealand. As a local government office and point of interest, our establishment aims to promote and protect the health of our community.

One of our key focuses is preventing the spread of contagious diseases such as whooping cough (pertussis). We offer free vaccinations for babies at 6 weeks, 3 months, and 5 months to fully protect them against this and other vaccine-preventable diseases.

Meningococcal disease is a serious and fast-acting illness that can have severe consequences. It is crucial to recognize the signs and symptoms and seek immediate help if you or your loved ones experience them.

Ensuring you are up to date with vaccinations is essential for your well-being. If you are uncertain about your MMR vaccination, which protects against measles, we offer easy and free immunization to safeguard you, your whānau (family), and the wider community.

We believe in promoting healthy eating habits through our Hauora Kai initiative. Our Fruit & Vege Co-op provides fresh, local, and seasonal produce at affordable prices every week across the Wellington region.

Immunization plays a vital role in protecting the tamariki (children) in the greater Wellington region. It saves lives and sets them up for a healthy future. All vaccines on the National Immunisation Schedule are free for children under 18 in Aotearoa New Zealand.

We are proud to have collaborated with Te Whatu Ora National Public Health Service, Hutt City Council, and NZ Police in a Controlled Purchase Operation. This operation aimed to prevent underage alcohol sales, and we are pleased to report that no sales were made from the 21 premises visited in Lower Hutt.

A recent study conducted by the University of Otago and Regional Public Health Wellington highlighted the need for continued regulation of vaping products. Some retailers are circumventing regulations designed to protect young people from exposure to vaping products and promotions.

With the temporary removal of fluoride from water supplies in certain areas, including Porirua, Manor Park, Stokes Valley, Wellington City, and Upper Hutt, we urge our communities to prioritize oral health care at home.

We are proud to support a health promotion initiative that utilizes rugby league as a means to promote positive health actions to whānau. The Nga Hau E Wha O Wainuiomata Under-14 Kotiro rugby league team has excelled both in their sporting abilities and as health promoters through this pilot collaboration.
