Welcome to The Ardmore Vet! We are a small animal clinic located in the beautiful hills of Brookby and Clevedon, just a few minutes away from Papakura, Takanini, Clevedon, and Manurewa/Manukau. Our purpose-built establishment offers stunning scenery and a peaceful rural experience for both you and your furry family.

April, our experienced veterinarian, has been in the field for nearly 30 years. She began her career at the University of London, where she obtained her degree. In 1984, she set up her first veterinary clinic and was later awarded 'London Vet of the Year' in 1996, a prestigious accolade based on client nominations and adjudicated by respected veterinary bodies in the UK.

Throughout her career, April has held diverse veterinary positions, including being a veterinary advisor and television presenter for Thames Television in the UK, a vet for the London Metropolitan Police's mounted division (attending vet at the Knightsbridge Bombing), and a routine vet for Whitbread Brewery Show Dray Horses. She has also served as an expert witness in court proceedings and as a veterinary advisor to various agencies, including the R.S.P.C.A.

April's expertise extends to her involvement in government panels and committees. She was appointed by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons to give evidence to the House of Lords Select Committee on the amendment of the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 and served on the British government panel on housing and dogs, chaired by Sir Roger Gale M.P. Additionally, April provided direct advice to Chris Carter on a similar dog control act in New Zealand after emigrating in 2003.

By situating our clinic just 5 minutes out of town, we aim to avoid the usual stresses of traffic, shopping, and busy schedules that often accompany a trip to the vet. Instead, you can enjoy the serene and relaxed atmosphere of our rural setting.

We offer a range of veterinary care services, including consultations and treatment for various conditions. If you suspect your cat has been in a cat fight, we highly recommend seeking veterinary attention promptly to avoid further complications. It is better to pay for a consultation fee and antibiotics than to wait and potentially require expensive surgery for an abscess.

For new puppy and kitten owners, it is important to deworm your pets from 2-4 weeks of age, even if the mother was regularly dewormed. We recommend using a wormer from your vet, as supermarket or pet shop products have lower dosages for safety reasons and may not be as effective.
