"Amazing views of the colony. We were there during mating season so we got to see the babies and parents swooping around to go get food. It was an excellent experience! Wear sunscreen!! We lost track of time taking pictures of the birds and got a little burnt."
"Spent a lovely evening watching the gannets come back to land and feed their young. Beautiful track and wooden lookout so you can get very close to the birds now"
"Totally free and a gorgeous walk will reward you with views out over the ocean, across two beaches (including a lovely black sand beach on one side) and the Gannet Colony, which is well worth the walk! When we went there were a number of just hatched little birds and it was such a spectacular sight!"
"I recently visited the Muriwai Gannet Colony Lookout and had a fantastic experience. The lookout is located on the west coast of Auckland, providing stunning views of the ocean and surrounding countryside. But the real highlight of the lookout is the opportunity to get up close and personal with the gannets. The birds are only a few metres away, and you can watch them in their natural habitat as they nest and raise their chicks. It's an amazing and unique experience that you won't find anywhere else. Overall, I highly recommend the Muriwai Gannet Colony Lookout for anyone looking to experience the beauty of New Zealand's west coast and get up close and personal with these amazing birds. It's an experience you won't forget."
