Welcome to A Beach House at Piha, located at Marine Parade South, Auckland, New Zealand. Our establishment is a charming beach house situated at the end of New Zealand's most famous surf beach. It offers the perfect romantic retreat or setting for your special event, amidst the wild natural beauty of the West Coast and Tasman Sea.

Accessed through the Waitakere ranges, Piha is a place of power and beauty. It boasts a long beach of fine black sand and a spectacular rugged coastline, all within a small, environmentally sensitive community. During summer, Piha becomes a mecca for swimmers, surfers, and picnickers. In winter, it becomes a tranquil and isolated paradise, attracting surfing and fishing enthusiasts year-round. The average winter daily maximum temperature is around 15 degrees Celsius (60 degrees Fahrenheit), while summer temperatures reach around 27 degrees Celsius (80 degrees Fahrenheit). Throughout the year, there are surfing events and local social gatherings that add to the vibrant atmosphere.

Our beach house adjoins a wildlife sanctuary, offering beautiful bush-walks and the best surfing spots right outside your doorstep. In summer, you can enjoy patrolled swimming just a stone's throw away. Whether you choose to join in on the activities or simply relax and watch the world go by from our deck or fireside, you'll be surrounded by stunning panoramic beach and ocean views.

The beach house itself features a sunny and sheltered north-west aspect, with French windows that open up the entire front of the house. Inside, you'll find polished wood floors and a large deck that overlooks the grounds, which are a mix of sand, grass, and mature native bush. The frontage is fenced for added privacy and security, and off-road parking is available.

The house is designed to embrace the weather. In winter, you can enjoy full sun and leave the doors open to bask in front of the open fire while watching storms rage over the sea. Alternatively, you can sunbathe on the deck or in the sheltered garden. In summer, you can relax in the shade of the beautiful pohutukawas while overlooking the bustling beach.

Inside the house, you'll find an open-plan living area and kitchen, complete with three double fold-out futon couches. The living room and main bedroom, which features a queen-size bed, face onto the beach, offering breathtaking views. There is also a nursery/dressing room with two single bunks and a second bedroom with a queen bed. Additionally, the basement contains a single bed and a double/single bunk set.

We provide various amenities to ensure your stay is comfortable and convenient. These include a telephone, TV with Freeview (NZ satellite TV), DVD player, stereo, heated towel rail, jug, toaster, food processor, microwave/grill, gas hob, electric oven/rangehood, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, BBQ, outdoor furniture, open fireplace, washing machine, dryer, hot shower, WC, duvets, crockery, cutlery, and cookware. We also provide tea, bodum coffee, and a selection of condiments. Linen and pillows are available upon request.

Our beach house offers a prime location for surfers, as it looks out onto the best surfing spot in Piha. During the swimming season, a safe swimming area patrolled by lifeguards is just a stone's throw away. You can also take a short walk to the lagoon, the Blue Pool, Kitekite Falls, and "the Coffin," where children can swim.

Please note that our deck is unfenced and not recommended for crawlers or toddlers. Additionally, our water supply is either rain or delivered water, which is adequate but not unlimited. We provide information on surf safety to ensure your safety while enjoying the beach.

Piha is renowned for its ecological beauty, rather than its nightlife. However, a short stroll around the beach will lead you to the Piha Cafe and three licensed club/restaurants. You can also visit the art gallery, featuring unique original crafts and works from some of New Zealand's leading artists. There is a general store and a small library with video hire. Surf equipment hire/sale, surf fashions, and coffee are available nearby. You can even arrange surfing lessons and canyoning trips. If you require full shopping facilities, they are available 20 km away at Henderson or Titirangi. Auckland's wineries, arts, fine dining, and other attractions are also within reach.
