"We were duped into believing that this pavilion would have a nice experience - cream tea after a visit to the mineral bath house. Trays were left out in the pavilion for the birds to pick clean as we walked into redeem our order (placed online). After having the tea we left our trays and walked around the park. Passing back 15 minutes later to find our trays we’re still there and all of the remaining food picked clean by the birds. While the local wildlife is lucky to be feasting on such healthy snacks as butter rolls and powdered sugar….this is indicative of slow and inattentive service. For the price paid, this place does not deliver and is equivalent to a stadium concession stand. Set your expectations for this level of experience and you may find it to be acceptable. I would avoid entirely and make tea at home."
"We had a Devonshire tea as part of the bathhouse package. The scones were delicious and the service was prompt. The inside wasn't very big and there wasn't much atmosphere. But overall a pleasant experience."
"We had Devonshire tea booked as part of a package with Hepburn Bathhouse and Spa (we had booked in May). Unfortunately, the Devonshire was disappointing on many levels. The cafe had run out of English Breakfast tea (which surprised us, considering we had booked), so we were forced to choose a different tea — black chai was the closest option. We were encouraged to find a table in the adjacent pavilion, which was sparsely furnished and the kitchen’s messy overflow storage was in full view. When the tea arrived, we were served a pot of water and tea bags which had not been put into the boiling water. As such, the tea didn’t steep properly. For traditional Devonshire tea, it’s reasonable to expect loose leaf tea, correctly steeped. One of us had regular scones and one had gluten free (which had also ordered in advance). The regular scones were quite good, but the gluten free scones had been heated in a microwave. After about 30 seconds, they were as hard as a rock. Gluten free baked goods - especially scones - should never be microwaved. For $15 per head, this Devonshire tea was exceptionally under par. As part of a package deal with Hepburn Bathhouse and Spa, I hope the business partner pays careful attention to what’s happening in the Pavilion next door."
"We enjoyed our very tasty and quite large hot cheese & ham toastie with a good-flavoured coffee on a cold autumn day, and a mint slice to finish! Outside and inside seating, friendly staff. Hubby also enjoyed his local Ginger Ale (alcoholic) from Hepburn Brewing Co. Would like to come back for the moist-looking almond cake or the scones that others have raved about!"
