At Great South Vets, we understand the importance of critical thinking and staying informed. That's why we encourage you to check out our YouTube video discussing the human rights aspect of lockdowns. We believe in fostering a community that values knowledge and open-mindedness.
Our doors are open to serve you during our regular opening hours. From Monday to Friday, we are available from 8am to 8pm. On Saturdays, we operate from 9am to 5pm, and on Sundays, we are here for you from 10am to 4pm. Please note that we are closed on public holidays, both the proper day and the observed day.
We are excited to announce that Great South Vets, in collaboration with the Community Cat Coalition Inc., invites all individuals, regardless of their fitness level, to join our Charity Team in the Ports of Auckland - Round the Bays - 8.4 km Fun Run. This event will take place at 9:00am on a Sunday (to be announced). The countdown is on, with 0 days to go!
To support our fundraising efforts, we aim to gather a team of at least 20 participants who will walk, jog, or run the 8.4 km journey with us. For every one of the first 10 team members who crosses the finish line, Great South Vets will generously donate $1,000.00 to the Community Cat Coalition Inc. This means that we have the potential to make a donation of up to $10,000.00 to this worthy cause.
Joining our team is easy! Simply visit the Round the Bays website and click on the "ENTER NOW" button to register. Choose the Event Entry or Family Pass option, and in the Team Selection window, click on "Join a Team." Type in the words "GSV Charity Team," our team name, and click the search button. You will see our team name with a "Join this Team" button. Click on it and follow the instructions to complete your registration. The registration fee is $40. When filling out your details, select "Joggers (Red Group 50-80mins)" in the Start Group input. We will pick up your bib for you and hand it to you at 9:00 am on race day, before the start time of 9:30 am. Whether you're a snail or an Olympic champion, everyone is welcome to join our team!
On the day of the event, please make sure to arrive no later than 9:00 am in the Joggers (Red bibs) start area on Quay St, between Tapora St and Tangihua St. This is where we will distribute the race bibs to all team members. You can choose to race, run, jog, or walk, but most importantly, have fun! You have until 12:15 pm to finish the race, which gives you 2¾ hours. That's approximately 1 km every 20 minutes, allowing for a leisurely walk.
After crossing the finish line, don't forget to collect your Finishers Medal and look for our team members who will be there to greet you. They will also provide directions to Madills Farm, a short 10-minute walk from the finish area, where we will celebrate our run with a Sizzling Summer BBQ.

"They saved our little boy whom was almost dying. He had PU surgery and healed well. Big thanks to them, especially Santina."
"Very dirty and strong bad odor. I get that animals have their own odor but over there is a bit over the top. I sat there today looking around and thought, I’d clean & sanitise this whole place in a day and at least make it look decent. I couldn’t let any of them touch my fur baby so I left. Never going back there again."
"This has been our family’s go to vet for years but after covid I am finding it very difficult to get an appointment. They’ve switched to a method that does not allow pre-booking. So you go all the way there, wait in line, only to be told that they’re already overbooked for the rest of the day at 2pm in the afternoon. I appreciate that their prices are very cheap but unless you have an entire day to spend waiting in line, the low costs don’t make up for the time and energy wasted."
"Still in shock. The miscalculation of the bill is not the point, on the bill for our cat vaccinations there was a collar that another customer bought for her dog. The terrible thing is that they gave wrong medication, twice!!! We discovered it in time for the second time, so it was changed immediately. But also the same time found that last time they gave the wrong medicine for treatment. We were given 250mg tablets instead of 50mg tablets which should we have, a full five times the dose!!! At this time, my kitten has been taking the medicine for two weeks! She was only 8 weeks old when she started taking the medicine, and her weight was less than 1kg. The staff kept apologizing, saying it was harmless, do you believe it? If it is harmless why we need the prescribed dose? We all know that antibiotics must not be taken in excess, otherwise it will cause lesions in the body and cause toxic reactions, which can affect the nervous system, urinary system, blood and digestive system or liver and kidneys. You are professionals with more knowledge than ordinary people, how can you lie to customers like this? We are so upset and don't know what to do, maybe irreversible damage has been done to the cat."
"Do not recommend you are paying for the value of care as low service. Horrified by the surgery and cats smelling of saturated pee to be sitting on a newspaper when I left a training pad for them in the carrier. They looked beautiful going in and healthy, came out looking like scruffs! No call or message to notify of pick up. Took us 4 weeks to get these stray kittens looking domestic, to looking and smelling worse than what we got them! Horrible"
