Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners (RNZCGP)
About the Business
Welcome to the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners (RNZCGP), located at Wellington's Customhouse Quay. As an establishment and point of interest, we are proud to support over 1000 general practices across Aotearoa in providing safe, equitable, and high-quality healthcare.
When we speak as the College, it is on behalf of our 5,500 members. We are New Zealand's leading institution for training specialist GPs and rural hospital doctors. We set the standards for safe and equitable practices, and we proudly represent the voice of our members.
Whether you are looking to specialize as a general practitioner or a rural hospital doctor, we can help you take the next step in your career. We also welcome overseas-trained doctors, offering a range of options for becoming a New Zealand GP.
One of the key aspects of our institution is our continuing professional development program. This program assists our members in setting and achieving their learning goals, ensuring they maintain the necessary ongoing education each year.
In addition to training and development opportunities, we also offer various membership benefits. Our members enjoy savings, mental health support, learning tools, and more.
We are also actively involved in funding research that benefits general practice, rural general practice, and rural hospital medicine. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to contribute, regardless of whether they are doctors or College members.
At the RNZCGP, our leadership team sets the tone and direction for the College in line with our Statement of Strategic Intent, Te Rautaki. Under the guidance of our Chief Executive, Lynne Hayman, we strive to uphold excellence in general practice and rural hospital medicine.
One of our esteemed Fellows, Dr. Jason Tuhoe, shares his experience of choosing the GP life, stating, "I saw during my training that general practice is about relationships, and I couldn't get that in the same meaningful way in a hospital."
If you want to learn more about the facts and figures of general practice and rural hospital medicine in New Zealand, we invite you to explore our website. Whether you are a healthcare professional or simply interested in the field, we have a wealth of information to offer.
Join us at the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners and be a part of shaping the future of healthcare in Aotearoa. Nau mai, haere mai!
