Kahurangi School

Welcome to Kahurangi School! Located at 43 Strathmore Avenue in Wellington, New Zealand, our school is a vibrant and diverse institution that is dedicated to providing a high-quality education for students from Year 1 to Year 8.

Established in February 2013, Kahurangi School has quickly grown in size and now boasts approximately 270 students and twelve learning spaces. Despite our growth, our priority remains the same - ensuring that parents and whānau (family) feel confident in choosing our school as the best place for their children to learn and grow. We take great pride in the fact that our students genuinely enjoy coming to school and that our school has earned a positive reputation within the community.

At Kahurangi School, we believe that education is not only about academic achievements, but also about fostering a love for learning and equipping students with the social and emotional skills they need to thrive in the wider community. We are committed to creating a safe and inclusive environment where students can develop into confident, kind, and responsible individuals. Our high behavior expectations, focus on student well-being, and restorative approach to conflict resolution all contribute to a positive and supportive school culture.

Our school motto, "Whāia te iti kahurangi, ki te tūohu koe me he maunga teitei," translates to "Pursue that which is precious, and do not be deterred by anything less than a lofty mountain." We encourage our students to aim high, take risks, and persevere in the face of challenges. We want them to achieve their full potential and become lifelong learners.

Our school operates on a four-term system, with Term 1 running from Thu 2 Feb to Thu 6 Apr, Term 2 from Mon 24 Apr to Fri 30 Jun, Term 3 from Mon 17 Jul to Fri 22 Sep, and Term 4 from Mon 9 Oct to Wed 20 Dec.
