Welcome to Blockhouse Bay Kindergarten, located at 5 Exminster Street in Auckland, New Zealand. As an establishment and point of interest, our institution is dedicated to providing a positive and safe learning environment for all children.

At Blockhouse Bay Kindergarten, our kaiako (teachers) are committed to supporting tamariki (children) in developing their self-esteem and confidence. We believe in empowering children to ask questions, try new things, and believe in their potential for greatness. We understand that play is an essential part of learning, as it supports the social, emotional, and moral development of our tamariki. Therefore, we offer a wide range of experiences and activities to engage and inspire children to explore and extend their learning.

One of the highlights of our kindergarten is our large outdoor area, which serves as an exciting playground for tamariki to play and explore. This outdoor space allows children to develop their independence and confidence while also learning about being Kaitiaki (guardians) of our environment. From caring for plants and gardens to discovering the wonders of nature, our tamariki are encouraged to connect with and appreciate the world around them. Additionally, our outdoor covered deck ensures that even in the rain, children can enjoy the fresh air and continue their learning experiences.

We take great pride in the multicultural diversity within our community and value the sharing of cultures, language, values, and beliefs. We believe that by learning alongside each other, we create a rich and inclusive kindy experience for all children. Furthermore, through our relationships with local schools in our Kahui Ako (learning community), we foster connections with a wide range of local services. Our tamariki transition to various local schools, including Blockhouse Bay, New Windsor, Marshall Laing, Chaucer, and Iqra.

Our dedicated teachers are experienced in the Engage and Alert Programmes, which help children with self-regulation, as well as the Incredible Years training programme. They are committed to providing a stimulating and well-resourced environment that promotes literacy, mathematics, and science curriculum. Our teachers also strive to further challenge and extend children's learning through play.

We have a well-established transition to school programme and maintain excellent relationships with local schools. This ensures a smooth transition for our tamariki as they move on to the next phase of their education.

Kindergarten hours are from Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 2.30pm, while our office hours are from Monday to Friday, 8am to 4.45pm. Please note that we are closed during term breaks and public holidays.
