Pomaria Primary School
About the Business
Welcome to Pomaria Primary School, located at 33A Pomaria Road in Auckland, New Zealand. As an establishment and point of interest, we take great pride in our commitment to serving the community of West Auckland. Our institution is a primary school that focuses on instilling strong moral values and providing a nurturing environment for our students.
At Pomaria Primary School, we believe in the importance of respecting people, places, and things, including oneself. We encourage honesty, fairness, and the ability to distinguish between right and wrong. Our students are taught to do what is right, even when no one is watching, and to empathize with others by understanding and sharing their feelings.
To ensure fair and transparent management of our student population, the Ministry of Education has implemented an enrolment scheme starting from term 2 in 2023. This scheme guarantees automatic entitlement to enrolment for learners residing within the designated home zone area, as shown on the map below.
We strive for excellence in every child and provide opportunities for their talents to be recognized, developed, and rewarded. Our school's foundation is built upon four cornerstones: Whanaungatanga, which promotes a culture of familiness; Tūrangawaewae, which establishes a standing place for our community; Mātauranga, which encourages seeking knowledge; and Manaakitanga, which emphasizes being a blessing to others.
Music plays a vital role in our school's culture and community. Our music activities range from singing and assembly performances to body percussion, dancing, and even studio recording. We offer a variety of music lessons and instruments, including ukulele, percussion instruments, and bucket drumming, allowing our students to explore their musical talents.
In addition to our focus on music, we also prioritize the health and well-being of our students. Our 300-meter bike track is part of our health program, providing learners with the opportunity to learn how to ride a bike, build confidence, and acquire road safety skills. These bike sessions not only develop balance and muscle tone but also guarantee a lot of fun.
To promote healthy eating habits, Pomaria Primary School participates in the Fruit in Schools program. This program encourages children to consume more fruits and vegetables, promoting healthier lifestyles. Every day, seasonal fruit is delivered to classrooms for learners to try, ensuring they have access to nutritious snacks.
We understand the importance of fostering creativity and problem-solving skills in our students. That's why we have a dedicated Lego room where learners can let their imagination and building skills shine. Working with Lego not only develops social skills but also enhances problem-solving abilities, perseverance, fine motor skills, and can even reduce anxiety.
To support our students' well-being, we are fortunate to have a breakfast club that runs three times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. This club is run by volunteers from local churches in Henderson, and it provides nutritious breakfast options such as milk and Sanitarium Weet-Bix, generously provided by Fonterra and Sanitarium.
Another program we offer is Kiwi Can, an energy-packed primary school program that teaches values such as integrity and respect. Kiwi Can helps build resilience in our students and delivers fun-filled learning experiences. Our learners look forward to their weekly Kiwi Can lessons, which are always a highlight.
Lastly, our learners have the opportunity to showcase their voices and creativity through Pomaria 88.2 FM. During lunchtime, they engage in korero, sharing their lives, learning experiences, and laughter. This space also doubles as a recording studio for creating podcasts and recording music, allowing our students to explore their talents in broadcasting and audio production.
At Pomaria Primary School, we are dedicated to creating a supportive and nurturing environment where every child can thrive. We invite you to explore our website and learn more about the opportunities and values we offer to our students.
