"I had heard some good things about CASA, so I tried them. The first worker I had was good, but then for no reason I was given a different worker. She was hardly friendly, had zero compassion, no understanding, no empathy and did nothing to help me. I found her stern, impatient, and extremely difficult to talk to. When I complained I was told she was the boss so complaining was rather useless. She refused to allow me to try a different worker. Also they seemed to really like using threats to close your file if your lack of trust rears too often. In the end I hope they did! Maybe CASA helps some, but they definitely were not for me. In one sense I am grateful they were not right for me because that enabled me to go elsewhere and get the understanding and help I needed. There really needs to be a watchdog for these so called services and their workers that get funded to help survivors, but either are very selective about who they get along with, do very little, or cause more damage, so that when someone has a bad experience there is somewhere to lodge a complaint and be taken seriously. Do not let CASA put you off turning elsewhere for help, not all are like them and there are more helpful services out there. Sometimes you have to try several to finally find the one thats right for you."
