Since 1920, this market has been serving customers in the heart of the city, initially located in the center of Allen St and Blair St, just off Courtenay Place. In 2002, the market found its current home and has since been known by various names such as Waitangi Park Market, Te Papa Market, and Chaffers Market. Today, it is proudly known as Harbourside Market.
At Harbourside Market, you can find a wide variety of fresh and locally sourced produce. From vibrant vegetables and fruits to aromatic herbs and beautiful flowers, we have everything you need to create a delicious and healthy meal. We also offer fresh fish, modern deli meats, bread and confectionery, fresh cheese, preserves and chutneys, nuts, eggs, homemade cordials, and a mouthwatering selection of hot foods. And of course, no visit to our market is complete without enjoying a cup of great coffee.
We are committed to sustainability and reducing plastic waste. That's why we sell reusable market bags for just $3, helping to eliminate the need for single-use plastic bags. You can find these bags at our Market Kiosk.
Parking in Wellington can be a challenge, but we've got you covered. When you visit Harbourside Market, we only charge $2 for 1 hour of parking between 7am-1pm, making it convenient for you to explore our market and all it has to offer. You can find us on the corner of Cable St & Barnett St, right beside Te Papa.

"Well established market! They had at least six fresh produced vendors all located within a large square at the parking area. Around you have different food stalls and other items. You could go there for breakfast and your fresh produce shopping at the same time."
"Pleasant location. Our highlight was the Ukrainian food stall. The people put their all into making you welcome and explaining their delightful products. We had the Borscht which was excellent. Wish we had stopped there first and had had the opportunity to try more of their delights. We wish that we lived in NZ and Wellington so we could go back and enjoy their wonderful food. Congratulations to all those folks for all their hard work!"
