About the Business
Welcome to R and S Satay Noodle House, located at 148 Cuba Street, Te Aro, Wellington. Our establishment is a must-visit for all food enthusiasts seeking authentic Malaysian and Chinese cuisine. Whether you're looking for a quick takeaway meal or a cozy dine-in experience, we have you covered.
At R and S Satay Noodle House, we take pride in offering a diverse menu that caters to all taste preferences. From our mouthwatering garlic rice served with your choice of fried or boiled chicken to our delectable seafood fried rice noodle, every dish is prepared with utmost care and attention to detail. Our NZD18 plate of seafood fried rice noodle is worth every penny, as it features fresh prawns, squid, and scallops cooked to perfection. The flavorsome rice noodle is fried to just the right level, and the gravy consistency is sure to please your palate. You'll find yourself savoring every bite until the last piece of noodle.
For those craving classic favorites, we offer pork fried rice, deep-fried chicken wings, and roti with satay sauce. The food is not only great in taste but also satisfying in portion size. However, we understand that some customers may have concerns about certain aspects of their experience. We do not provide free water, and bottled water or soft drinks must be purchased. Additionally, there is a small charge for takeaway containers. We want to remind our valued customers that there are other establishments around Cuba Street that offer free water and take away containers.
We value the honest opinions of our customers, and we appreciate the feedback we receive. One customer mentioned that the Combination Fried Noodle with Egg lacked flavor and had a slightly slimy texture. However, they noted that it was a good option for a finger workout. On the other hand, our Hainanese chicken rice continues to impress with its moist and flavorful meat. The Dry Fried Kua Teaw is also highly recommended, especially when paired with our complimentary sambal chili. The vibrant South East Asian vibes of our brightly colored interior, along with the iconic picture of Petronas Towers, create an authentic dining experience.
Please note that our prices have slightly increased over the years due to inflation, but we assure you that the quality and taste of our dishes remain top-notch. We take pride in offering generous portion sizes to ensure our customers leave fully satisfied. However, we understand that personal preferences may vary, and some dishes may have ingredients that some may find overpowering, such as the desiccated coconut in our chicken rendeng.
In conclusion, R and S Satay Noodle House is a point of interest and a go-to restaurant for those seeking a delightful taste of Malaysian and Chinese cuisine in Wellington. With our online ordering system, takeaway options, and secure online payments, we strive to provide convenience and a memorable dining experience. Come and indulge in our flavorful dishes, and we promise you won't be disappointed.

"absolutely bangin fried rice and roti with satay. good portions, fair wait time, and everything was delishhhhhhhh"
"Review from our friend who had Combination Fried Noodle with Egg: "Honest opinion, it kinda has no flavour and it's kinda like slimy. But it's good if you wanted to finger workout" Hainanese chicken rice is good as always, meat was nice and moist. Dry Fried Kua Teaw is really good, even better with sambal chilli (need to ask and it's free). Bright coloured interior really gives off South East Asian vibes. Picture of Petrona Towers makes it feel authentic. Prices have gone up over the years, but understandable due to inflation..."
"NZD18 for this plate of seafood fried rice noodle is worthwhile. It came with fresh prawns, squid and scallops. The rice noodle was fried sufficiently and the gravy consistency was to my liking. Usually I can’t finish a dish by myself but I did with this one. I just kept eating till almost the last piece of noodle."
"Had a pork fried rice for me and deep fried chicken wings and roti w/ satay sauce for my wife. Food was great and taste good. Downside for me is, they don’t serve free water, so you will be forced to buy a mineral water or softdrinks. I think all restaurants should have atleast free bottled water. Another thing is that, when I asked for a container to put our leftovers, they are charging $1 for it (and they are quite small). So if you are wanting to dine here, this is just a reminder that, There are a lot establishments around cuba street that offers free water and take away containers."
"Very generous portion sizes. I enjoyed the chicken rendeng ($20), however I didn’t realise how much desiccated coconut it would have and it was slightly overpowering. The prices here have also risen but that’s understandable with the rising cost of food."
