NZ Institute of Primary Industry Management
About the Business
Welcome to the NZ Institute of Primary Industry Management (NZIPIM), located at 69 The Terrace, Wellington, New Zealand. As a prominent establishment and point of interest, NZIPIM is dedicated to providing professional development events that inform, upskill, and expand the knowledge base of our members who offer advice and services to farmers and growers.
One of our upcoming events is the Northland Branch, where we will have the privilege of hearing from recent Nuffield Scholars. These scholars have embarked on a journey of discovery through their scholarships, allowing them to explore different agricultural ideas and processes while studying their chosen topics. During this event, three scholars with a specific interest in Northland will share their research, experiences, and the impact their scholarship has had on their careers.
Additionally, we invite you to the Bay of Plenty Branch for a networking and round table discussion over coffee and a muffin. This event, titled "Stronger Together - Taupo breakfast," aims to bring industry professionals closer together to benefit our clients. The Bay of Plenty Branch, in collaboration with MPI, believes that by working together, we can achieve greater success within the industry.
For rural professionals in their first 10 years of their career, we offer the NZIPIM Leadership Development Forum - level 1. This forum is designed to enhance the leadership capabilities and skill sets of talented rural professionals within our membership. Our goal is to empower them to become more influential and provide greater leadership on the important issues impacting New Zealand's primary industry at a high level.
In exciting news, emerging rural professional Sarah Hawkins has been named the Farmax/FarmIQ Emerging Rural Professional of the Year for 2023. Sarah, an environmental and dairy consultant, stood out among a highly talented and passionate group of nominees.
We would also like to bring your attention to the Ministry for the Environment's proposal to defer the date when animal farmers become liable for their emissions under the NZ Emissions Trading Scheme (NZ ETS). They are currently seeking feedback on this proposal, highlighting the importance of engaging with the industry to make informed decisions.
Lastly, we are pleased to announce that the Food and Fibre Cove has released the Principles-Centred Leadership Model. Commissioned by the Food and Fibre Centre of Vocational Excellence, this leadership model aims to develop a robust leadership ecosystem for Aotearoa New Zealand's food and fibre sector. The interim report was released in February 2023, and further input through surveys and focus groups will inform the final leadership model.
At NZIPIM, we are committed to providing valuable opportunities for growth, networking, and knowledge sharing within the primary industry. Join us in our mission to support and elevate the agricultural sector in New Zealand.
