Fabric Cafe Bistro
About the Business
Welcome to Fabric Cafe Bistro, a charming establishment located in the heart of Auckland, New Zealand. Situated on Boundary Road in the beautiful suburb of Hobsonville Point, our cafe is not just a place to grab a bite to eat, but a point of interest that holds a special place in both New Zealand's history and our family's heritage.
Fabric was founded and is proudly owned by Luke Shore, a local resident of Hobsonville Point. Luke's deep connection to this site goes beyond being a business owner; it is a personal and familial bond. When signing the lease for The Fabric Building, we discovered that Luke's grandparents, Keith Ivan Sainsbury Shore and Lila Pearl Shore (nee Bobbett), met and served at the Hobsonville Airforce Base during World War II. Keith, an armourer, was stationed in The Armoury Building, which is just a stone's throw away from The Fabric Building. This revelation has made our involvement in this area even more meaningful, as we become part of a new chapter in the history of both New Zealand and our family.
At Fabric Cafe Bistro, we strive to create a warm and inviting atmosphere that welcomes both locals and visitors alike. Our cafe is a place where you can relax, enjoy a delicious meal, and immerse yourself in the rich heritage of the area. Whether you're stopping by for a quick coffee, a leisurely brunch, or a satisfying dinner, our menu offers a range of delectable options that will tantalize your taste buds.
We pride ourselves on using locally sourced ingredients to create our dishes, showcasing the flavors and freshness of the region. From hearty breakfasts to mouthwatering sandwiches and salads, our menu caters to a variety of tastes and dietary preferences. And let's not forget about our delectable desserts and specialty coffees that are perfect for those seeking a sweet treat or a caffeine pick-me-up.

"Great place with a good location, lovely meals all round. Pictured is seafood chowder, lamb rotti and chicken burger. Chicken burger had a bit more heat (chilli) than I was expecting, but still enjoyable."
"service not bad, good atmosphere (at least there is nice view by just looking out the glass) but the food really a joke… I thought 35 nzd I would at least get something that could make my stomach full but it ended up like so funny. it’s so tiny piece, and even not much portion side dish are given. kinda like find dining “could me my ownself problem, I was expecting everything big portion”"
"Great location and vibe. Parking can be quite challenging, but it's worth a visit during quieter times. The food was average and predictable, but the barista coffee was outstanding. The service staff members are all very friendly, and I strongly recommend you to try it sometime."
"Lovely restaurant by the water. We had breakfast on a beautiful sunny day. I ordered farmhouse eggs with Sourdough Bread and sausage and my niece got the smoked fish on toast. In addition we had a latte and a flat white. We enjoyed our food, although I was surprised to note that the bread was fried!! I think I would have enjoyed it more if it was just toasted lightly with a little butter, but heh, a little grease never hurt anyone!!"
"Luckily we’d arrive before 11.30 as breaky was still on the offer and we were not disappointed at all. I had the Smoked Kahawai $23 which was to die for so delicious !!! I got the jackpot thought because the Avocado toast looked a wee small for a dollar less. Love the big breakfast up size for hubby though you can chose any breakfast and add hashbrown, bacon, sausage, tomato for only $15 Everyone commented on the sourdough toast and just the food in general well worth the visit to this great location- service a little slow though and it wasn’t particularly busy but all forgiven when I got my breakfast Can’t wait to go back"
