Events @ Wellington College
About the Business
Welcome to Events @ Wellington College, located at Wellington, Dufferin Street, 15 in New Zealand. As an establishment and point of interest, we are proud to be a university that values belonging and our connection to the past. Our motto, "Lumen accipe et imperti," which means "Receive the light and pass it on," reflects our commitment to learning and sharing knowledge.
One of the important events happening at Wellington College is the Derived Grade Examinations, which will take place from the 1st Friday to the 11th Monday of September. These examinations are crucial for our senior students as they provide an opportunity to derive a grade if they are unable to sit their NCEA examination(s) in November. They also serve as a chance for students to assess their progress and make improvements before the end of the year.
The examination series primarily caters to Year 11 β 13 students, but there are also some Year 9 and 10 students who will be sitting exams if they are taking an NCEA Level 1, 2 or 3 subject this year. The examinations will be approximately 3 hours in length, with start times at 9 am and 1 pm. A detailed timetable, including exam venues, will be provided closer to the date.
If a student misses one of their derived grade examinations, they are advised to speak to their class teacher first, and then seek further assistance from the Head of Department or their Deans. Students with clashes in their schedule should make arrangements with their teachers and prioritize digital or practical/listening exams.
For students participating in regional or national sports tournaments during the derived grade examinations, catch-up slots will be allocated on Monday 11th September. During the examination period, NCEA Level 1, 2, and 3 classes will be suspended, and senior students will only be required on site for their scheduled exams. However, teachers may organize tutorial and workshop sessions for certain classes, which will be communicated directly to the students.
In addition to academics, Wellington College offers a wide range of co-curricular activities. With over 30 different sports available, students have a variety of options to choose from. Some sports are run as clubs, while others are organized by staff, parents, or local club administrators. These activities play a significant role in the holistic development of our students, enhancing their learning and enjoyment at school.
Established in 1867, Wellington College has a prestigious history and is recognized as one of New Zealand's most distinguished high schools for boys. Our school buildings reflect this rich heritage, while providing a modern and successful learning environment. We are committed to providing authentic, community-focused learning that is culturally responsive, relational, and adaptive.
