As a co-educational state secondary school, Tawa College is home to approximately 1450 students, supported by 100 teaching staff and 45 support staff. Our diverse student body is drawn from the Tawa area, which itself represents a broad socio-economic mix. This makes Tawa College a microcosm of New Zealand society, offering a truly inclusive and multicultural environment.

Since our official opening in July 1961, Tawa College has maintained a close involvement with the local community. We actively engage in various activities, particularly in the realms of music and sport. These extracurricular pursuits not only enhance our students' educational experience but also foster a strong sense of community spirit.

Tawa College warmly welcomes enrolments from overseas students. We currently have students from China, Japan, Korea, Germany, Cambodia, Fiji, Switzerland, and Malaysia. To ensure a diverse and integrated student body, we limit the number of international students to 40. This encourages them to interact and mix with students from different backgrounds, promoting cultural exchange and understanding.
