We are delighted to announce that on Tuesday, 7th December 2021, our very own Chandra Littlewood received the prestigious National Excellence in Teaching (NEiTA) Seed Award and the Early Career Teachers' Award. Chandra's outstanding environmental work with the tamariki (children) played a significant role in her well-deserved victory.

These awards hold immense importance as they have been running for 27 years, recognizing and honoring exceptional educators. Chandra was announced as one of the five award recipients in an online ceremony hosted by the Minister of Education, Hon. Chris Hipkins. She stands out as the sole recipient of the Early Career Teachers' Award. Traditionally, these awards are hosted by the Minister in the Grand Hall of Parliament Buildings.

Chandra's dedication to creating a sustainable and environmentally conscious learning environment has been truly remarkable. She has led the teachers, children, and their whānau (families) on a transformative journey towards sustainable living and a deep respect for our environment. Under her guidance, the tamariki have effortlessly embraced practices such as composting food scraps, feeding worm juice to vegetables, recycling scraps, and reusing cardboard from packaging. They have eagerly participated in park and beach clean-ups while learning about the importance of caring for creatures in need. Chandra's influence has even inspired one of Moriah's graduates to run for the position of Enviro Minister in her primary school.

We couldn't be prouder of Chandra and her remarkable achievements in nurturing our tamariki. Her dedication and passion have made a lasting impact on their lives.
