Founder and head stylist Ngarino has poured his heart and soul into setting up 1nine7two in Porirua. His mission is to create a beautiful salon with the best stylists, bringing a city look and feel, and providing a movie star treatment every time you visit. With over 25 years of experience in the hair industry, Ngarino's passion lies in painting people's hair and expressing his creative side. He is dedicated to sharing his knowledge with his team, ensuring they all evolve together.
Under the 1nine7two brand, our team of stylists has flourished. With exclusive training by Ngarino, who has been trained by the best in the world, their creative skills and confidence are at an all-time high. It is an honor for them to learn from such a diverse technician.
Our team is made up of passionate individuals who love what they do and aim to make people fall in love with themselves all over again. With years of experience and training by some of the most amazing hairdressers in Wellington, they are constantly upskilling and learning new techniques to create hair magic for you. In our 14 years of being in the hairdressing industry, working with Ngarino has been an incredible experience. "The treatments I have one at 1nine7two every month are nothing but perfection every time with the same stylist. I always have a root smudge and tone, if not foiling. My hair has never been in better condition than it has been since going to 1nine7two. I was in salon at the time that Mel was in the salon, and the way she has portrayed the situation places her as the victim when this was not at all the case! The way that the team dealt with the situation was nothing like mel has described, Mel is a bully, she was screaming and yelling at the stylist and had a friend there to bounce off of as well. She got louder and louder and made herself look a fool with her very obviously lightened hair! and I'm pleased to know she has been banned and I won't have to encounter that behavior again at my next visit"
"The service I received was unacceptable. Wanted bright blonde hair with 2 seasons of half head of foils. First treatment was left in way to long that left my hair looking grey an dull after the first wash and extremely dry and brittle at my roots. Second session I mentioned my concerns but still wanted blonde hair. My hair came out even darker an I was made out to be a fool an they tried to convince me it was blonde when clearly it wasn’t. Felt attacked and left to cry emotionally while they made me feel stupid as my hair was still brown. Then my jacket thrown at me an told to leave. Then felt attacked by the owner who messaged me banning me from the salon for being emotion. I did not yell or swear an was still willing to pay. Left feeling hurt, confused, emotional and unsatisfied. Finally walked away with at-least a refund hence the 2 star rating and half of an apology. Will definitely not return."
"I have seen both B and Amy for cuts and colours and have found that everytime I pop in its super friendly and warm atmosphere. When I came back after a bad bleach and colour (titanium blonde) job somewhere else I found that although it took a lot of time to fix my issue the team was so good to me and I now found that my hair is super healthy again! I am soo in love with the cut, colour and the team at 1nine7two."
