Welcome to Maharajas Indian Restaurant, located in Lower Hutt on Cuba Street. Established in 1991 by Vasant Ranchhod, Maharajas started as a spice retail business but soon recognized the growing demand for an authentic Indian dining experience in the Hutt Valley. In November 1991, Maharajas opened its doors as a restaurant and quickly became a popular point of interest for food enthusiasts.
Initially, Maharajas operated with a modest 24 seating capacity, consistently attracting a full house due to its delectable Indian cuisine. As the restaurant's popularity soared, it became evident that expansion was necessary. Taking a leap of faith, Vasant decided to increase the seating capacity to its current 150 seats, ensuring that more patrons could indulge in the flavors of India.
Despite its growth, Maharajas remains grounded in its humble beginnings. While the setting and decor have transformed into an elaborate Indian Dining Hall, we have always prioritized affordability, ensuring that our prices remain within reach for all. Our aim is to serve you fresh, artisan-style Indian cuisine that is bursting with flavors, all within a relaxed and friendly environment.
