Indian cuisine has been shaped by a long history of cultural influences, from the Mughals and Turks to Europeans and Portuguese. Each of these invaders brought their own cooking styles and ingredients, resulting in a truly eclectic and flavorful cuisine. What ties this diverse cuisine together is the use of aromatic and flavorful spices.
At India Village Restaurant, we understand the art of Indian cooking and strive to create dishes that perfectly blend these spices to create harmonious flavors. Our menu offers a range of options, with Northern Indian cuisine featuring rich meats, nuts, and delectable breads. The cuisine of western India focuses on the simplicity of rice and lentils, while the eastern coastline showcases the abundance of seafood in the region.
Southern India is famous for its legendary pickles and chutneys, which add a unique twist to our dishes. In Indian cooking, foods are categorized into six tastes - sweet, sour, salty, spicy, bitter, and astringent. A well-balanced Indian meal contains all six tastes, and we strive to deliver this balance to our customers. Accompanying our dishes are a wide variety of condiments that enhance the flavors and create a truly unforgettable dining experience.
What sets India Village Restaurant apart is our team of experienced chefs who passionately craft each dish with care. They understand the intricacies of Indian cooking and are dedicated to delivering the authentic flavors of India to our customers.

"Food has always been great from here, but unfortunately they've changed their pricing strategy recently to remove rice from the currys (what kind of curry does not come with rice?) and are charging between $5 and $7 extra per plate to include rice. $70+ for a takeaway curry for two people is unreasonable and India Village Manly has lost a long-term customer due to this. FYI, I saw some comments from the owners stating that rice does come with curry if ordered through order meal, I can confirm this is not the case as it's plastered all over the menu that it's not included."
"Good service, quick delivery however unfortunately both dishes were dripping in oil. When the containers were picked up they were greasy. We poured the visible oil into the sink and just ate the protein but couldn't really get rid of the oil taste. The spices and prawns/chicken pieces were nice but for $65 I'm disappointed. Please Please try to cook with less oil and put less oil in the dish. It's easy to see the oil if you let the container sit for a minute or two."
"I regret to say that this should just be a take-away restaurant. We dined in and the place was really cold, the Indian music far too loud and the service very poor. The food is good however. The use of school students as waiters will not work if they are not given some basic training. A shortage of staff is very evident. I would suggest that as soon as their lease runs out they should find smaller, cheaper premises and just serve takeaways as they clearly focus on that at the moment and pay little attention to their dine-in customers. This is intended as constructive criticism and I wish them good luck."
"The manager was great on our takeaway visit last Saturday. I told him that the previous experience was disappointing as I had to throw away a Samosa as it was too fried and rock hard. He gave us 2 free samosas. The chicken was really soft and was the best we have had in takeaways. Different locations often have some gristle meat."
"Hands down the best Indian food we have ever eaten. As there were four of us we shared a number of dishes and everything that came out of the kitchen tasted wonderful. Excellent service and atmosphere, this is a gem of a place in whangaparaoa. Highly recommend."
