About Casuarina Coastal Reserve Picnic Ground
Welcome to Casuarina Coastal Reserve Picnic Ground, located at Brinkin, Trower Road, 445. As an establishment and point of interest, Casuarina Coastal Reserve offers a breathtaking experience in Australia's beautiful coastline.
Stretching across kilometres of unspoilt beaches, this reserve boasts endless views of the stunning coastline. The landscape is adorned with dramatic cliffs and sweeping casuarina trees, creating an idyllic setting for picnics, beach cricket, or simply enjoying the Territory sun as it sets over the horizon.
Throughout the year, visitors may be treated to sightings of wading and migratory birds, as well as nesting turtles on the beach. As you explore the reserve, you'll also come across heritage-listed ruins from World War II, adding a touch of history to your visit.
For those seeking a unique experience, there is a nudist zone on the beach north of Darriba Road. It's important to note that being nude outside this designated zone is illegal. Additionally, Casuarina Coastal Reserve holds great cultural significance for the Larrakia people. At low tide, you can catch a glimpse of Darriba Nunggalinya, also known as Old Man Rock. Please respect this sacred site and refrain from disturbing Old Man Rock or removing shellfish.
To ensure a safe and comfortable trip to Casuarina Coastal Reserve, download the Casuarina Coastal Reserve fact sheet and map PDF (1.1 MB). You can access the reserve by foot or bicycle at Rapid Creek or from Lee Point, Buffalo Creek, and Trower Roads.
It's important to be aware of the jellyfish presence in the area. Box jellyfish are common during the Wet Season from October to May, so it is advised not to enter the water during this time. While jellyfish are less common from June to September, it's worth noting that serious stings have occurred during this period. In the event of a sting, flush the affected area with vinegar and seek medical help.
The Northern Territory Government acknowledges and respects the First Nations people of this country, recognizing their enduring connections to their lands, waters, and communities. We pay our respects to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, as well as their leaders, past, present, and emerging.
Visit Casuarina Coastal Reserve Picnic Ground and immerse yourself in the natural beauty, cultural significance, and rich history that this remarkable destination has to offer.

Reviews of Casuarina Coastal Reserve Picnic Ground
"My favourite beach in Darwin. Ample grassy areas for a picnic or wander down the steps to the beach. The only thing that would make this better would be a public shower for rinsing off after the beach. In the wet season you also have a fish and chips truck that services the area. Can't beat it."
"Beautiful coastal reserve park. A bit windy. Large area with plenty of free carparks. Picnic area. Children's playground. Follow the signs, going the Dripstone cliff stairs down to the beach, and watch WWII Observation Post and then the Rock face carvings."
"Beautiful place, nice beach and really good tracks for mountain biking"
"Simply beautiful and relaxing for morning walks along footpath or on the sands."
"It's very nice place to seeing sunset."
