This park is renowned for its picturesque ambiance and is a popular spot for picnics. It offers a peaceful respite for visitors passing through Crows Nest, allowing them to relax and take in the beautiful surroundings.
One of the park's notable features is the war memorial, which serves as a poignant tribute to soldiers who lost their lives during the First and Second World Wars. Originally erected in honor of the fallen heroes from the First World War, the memorial was later inscribed with the names of those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the Second World War.
Another significant aspect of Centenary Park is the sculpture dedicated to Jimmy Crow, a historic Aboriginal man. Legend has it that Jimmy Crow resided in a hollow tree known as a Gunya near the present-day Crows Nest Police Station. He was known for his vast knowledge of the area and would assist timber-hauling teams and horsemen with directions. Sculpted by Mr. Fred Gardiner, the life-sized statue of Jimmy Crow stands at an impressive height of 6 feet, 6 inches. It was unveiled during the Crows Nest centenary celebrations in 1969.
To further pay homage to Jimmy Crow, voluntary workers transported an 18-foot hollow tree stump to the park and planted a Narrow Leaf Morton Bay Fig Tree on top of it. The tree's roots were carefully trained to form another living hollow tree, replicating the one believed to have been Jimmy Crow's home.
Centenary Park offers a unique blend of natural beauty, recreational activities, and historical significance. Whether you're looking for a peaceful picnic spot, a place to let your children play, or a chance to learn about the area's history, this park is the perfect destination. "A great open space park in Crows Nest complete with seating and rest rooms. On the southern side an information map guide for all types of establishments. Nearby the soldiers memorial. I found nearby paralel parking for my car and camper trailer which was a bonus."

"My review may be slightly elevated for personal reasons. This Park was the first stop after seeing my Grandma in Critical Care Unit, it was like 10pm, So dark, but it looked like a really nice park and it did have some plagues to share some insight into the history of the town."
