Welcome to Island Pool, a hidden gem nestled on the banks of the Murray River in Western Australia's Shire of Waroona, Dwellingup. As an establishment and point of interest, Island Pool offers visitors the practical 'know how' to adventure into Western Australia's national parks confidently, responsibly, and safely.
At Island Pool, you can indulge in a variety of outdoor activities such as fishing, boating, paddling, snorkeling, and diving. Whether you're a seasoned adventurer or a beginner, our knowledgeable staff will ensure you have all the information and guidance you need to make the most of your experience.
One of the unique features of Island Pool is the availability of campgrounds for non-bookable campsites. This allows you to immerse yourself in nature and truly disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Wake up to the soothing sounds of the river and enjoy the tranquility of the surroundings.
As a responsible institution, we recognize and acknowledge the Pinjarup and Wiilman people as the traditional owners of Lane Poole Reserve, where Island Pool is located. We pay our respects to their rich culture and heritage.
Island Pool itself is a picturesque spot with easy access to the river and a popular walk trail. Park your car and take a leisurely stroll along the Island Pool Walk Trail, which starts from the car park. This one-hour loop walk takes you through scenic jarrah forest, dotted with beautiful grass trees. Marvel at the stunning views of the valley and the river below as you make your way along the trail.
For your safety, we recommend planning your visit and considering traveling with a personal location beacon (PLB). In the unlikely event that you need to be rescued, a PLB can be a life-saving device.
If you're interested in the biodiversity of the area, visit the Atlas of Living Australia for a comprehensive list of species recorded within a 5km radius of Island Pool. It's a great resource for nature enthusiasts and those curious about the rich flora and fauna that call this area home.
We also acknowledge the Aboriginal people as the traditional owners of Lane Poole Reserve, further highlighting the deep connection between the land and its custodians.
So, come and spend a day at Island Pool, where the serene Murray River awaits. Whether you're looking for a peaceful picnic, a refreshing swim, a paddle in a canoe, or a scenic walk, Island Pool has something for everyone. Immerse yourself in the beauty of Western Australia's natural wonders and create memories that will last a lifetime.
The Government of Western Australia also acknowledges the traditional owners throughout the state and their ongoing connection to the land, waters, and community. We pay our respects to all members of the Aboriginal communities and their cultures, as well as the Elders both past and present.
