"Brickendon Estate is a 7th generation family farm. It is still a working farm and was opened to the public to ensure the convict built buildings could be maintained. It is one of the most intact properties of this nature that we have seen. It is self guided and we found it a lot of fun. There are quite a few animals and all of them are gorgeous and well mannered. The cutest would be the new lambs. The crack ups would be the turkeys. And the friendliest would be the sheep. Aggie, the pig, had the worst table manners and the donkey was only interested in his hay. Then there are the handsomest roosters of all shapes and sizes. And my Tassie favourites, the ducks. I know they only want food but Iโd like to think they are after my love. YouTube @jabindajoey like & subscribe to follow our Aussie adventures"
"We had such a lovely day and night here. We stayed in the Pea in the Pod cottage which was super cute, very clean, comfy beds, warm and amazing views of the fields and sheep in the morning. The breakfast provided was an added bonus and really appreciated - juice, milk, cereal, toast, just what you need for a quick and easy start to your day. Included a mini fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle, kitchen sink, heated blankets, radiator, wall heater and TV. Next day we got to feed the animals including Aggie the pig, chooks, ducks, Ed the cow, horses and the sheep. It was simple but fantastic. Richard was very helpful. We toured the farm and the historic buildings. We also enjoyed touring the gardens across the road. I would just add for those with any accessibility concerns that there are two steps to get up to the cottage and no hand rail, and the bathroom and toilet are quite compact and no hand rails. I would also totally get married here, was a beautiful place to hold such a function or an event. And we came at the end of autumn/winter, can only imagine it would be even more gorgeous in spring summer bloom."
"The cabin was rustic but comfortably decorated. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay in a 1 BR cottage with back porch overlooking the fields, and learning about the estateโs history and the family tree. There are other historic buildings to explore and beautiful gardens to walk. This is a peaceful location with stores and restaurants just a short drive away. It wasnโt far to the Launceston airport for our departure the next day. Definitely recommend!"
"Such an amazing glimpse back into history. We stayed in the Gardenerโs cottage which is self contained with an open fire in the lounge. Continental breakfast with farm fresh eggs included. So lovely sitting on the veranda in the sun in the mornings, made extra special to have newborn lambs in the surrounding paddocks. Really enjoyed the historical aspect of the entire property. So interesting learning about the history of the property from the owner. Definitely recommend a stay here."
