Reviews of Tamar River Conservation Area
"Easy board walk through islands. Make sure to wear proper covering footwear as all snakes in Tasmania are said to be venomous. If you see one, do not provoke and move on. We moved fast whenever we heard the bushes move. Plenty of bird sighting during the walks at the marshy parts at the beginning. Also some birds at the last island. There is an amazing bbq area at the end. Wasn’t functional when we visited due to repairs. Should be an amazing outing spot for family and friends."
"Arrived after 10:30am, pretty hot in the summer... earlier in morning might be better, not only for the visitors but for seeing the wildlife more active. Saw lots of ducks, black swan, a pelican, geese and egrets."
"A wonderful walk. Easy. Relatively flat until you get to the island. Toilets and a BBQ area located in the island. Beautiful seats dotted along the walk. Great for the entire family."
"One of my favourite place in East Launceston I go there everyday for my daily walk."
"A very good nature Walk experience brings you to the Tamar Wetlands and Tamar Island nature reserve. Several varieties of bird life can be spotted here from ducks, swans, pelicans, lap wings, wrens... The list is endless really. Out on Tamar Island, there is evidence of habitation, a lot of fruit trees and even bulbs of garlic in flower, plus the large range of mature conifers and oaks. Very pretty, safe boardwalk and pathways, with BBQ facilities, public toilet and even a jetty. A round trip is about the 4klm mark."
