About Lilydale Falls
Welcome to Lilydale Falls, a stunning establishment nestled in the heart of Tasmania's picturesque Launceston City Council. This small yet enchanting campsite is located just 25 kilometres from Launceston, conveniently situated on the B81 Highway.
Lilydale Falls is a true gem, with its main attraction being the breathtaking Lilydale Falls themselves, which are only a short walk from the campground. Prepare to be captivated by the natural beauty and tranquility that surrounds you as you explore this incredible tourist attraction.
It's important to note that there is a maximum 2-night stay at the Lilydale Falls Reserve Campground. However, this campground caters to a variety of accommodation options, including campervans, caravans, motorhomes, and tent-based camping. Rest assured that there is something for everyone here.
To find us, simply follow the signposted access approximately 2.5 kilometres north of Lilydale on the B1 highway. As you arrive, you'll discover that in 1923, the Lilydale Council was granted a 99-year lease over a 40-acre land that encompasses the Lilydale Falls Reserve. This reserve has since become a popular picnic area, perfect for enjoying a delightful day out with loved ones.
Embark on a short and easy walk that will lead you to two sets of falls, one above the other. Though they may be small in size, their picturesque charm is simply undeniable. As you explore the reserve, you'll also come across two majestic oak trees that were grown from acorns sourced from the Great Park at Windsor. These trees were planted on Coronation Day, May 12, 1937, adding a touch of history to your visit.
Lilydale Falls Reserve boasts a range of amenities, including fireplaces, toilets, water, and camping facilities. Camping is free, although there is a small charge for showers. Rest assured that the campground is managed by the Launceston City Council and operates on a first-come, first-served basis.
One of the highlights of Lilydale Falls campground is its family-friendly atmosphere. Children will delight in the playground and picnic shelter, while everyone can enjoy the convenience of free firewood. For those who prefer tent camping, there is a grassed area beyond some bollards that is exclusively designated for this purpose, requiring you to bring your own equipment. Campervans, caravans, and motorhomes are accommodated in the adjoining gravel car park.

Reviews of Lilydale Falls
"Excellent nature walk. Close to the town. The trail going to the falls is not very far. Kids friendly with playground and toilet. Shed, few picnic and BBQ table for everyone to use. The road going inside is not a two way street so be mindful of the other vehicle along the way to the parking lot. Hiking shoes is highly recommended when walking the trail. Walking stick can be helpful during wet season. No sign that you are not allowed to swim but do it at your own risk. There is also an unused/abandon train track within the water falls park worthy of exploring. Just be mindful of the flora and fauna of the place. Good place to rest from a long drive passing through Golconda road. An overnight camping is allowed."
"Short scenic walk. A couple of big steps that I managed with dodgy knees. A steep drop off on one side and very slippery so take it carefully. Well worth the visit. The sign says 5 minutes to first falls then a further 5 mins to second falls. More like 7 and 3 minutes respectively."
"Lilydale Falls is actually two waterfalls that are a short distance from each other. The first is a walk of approximately 5 minutes and the second a couple of minutes further on. We found the track very walkable even in the wet. It is a beautiful area, and the falls themselves were lovely. We have just had a night of solid rain, so the falls were flowing beautifully. The carpet of leaves from the autumn fall were gorgeous, and the tree ferns were stunning. The falls are about a half an hours drive from Launceston in the Lilydale Falls Reserve. There’s something special about waterfalls, and I, for one, can’t get enough of them. Thankfully, Tasmania has some 200+ of them. I expect we won’t see most of them but if I’m nearby I’ll visit. "Really nice falls , easy to walk only 10 minutes to see both top and bottom, and after some rain it was flowing nicely! Path is not suitable for people with disabilities and if wet can be slippery but if u walk steady it can be achieved. Bottom in first photo and top in second photo"
"Beautiful short stroll through two sets of waterfalls, won't take more than 15 minutes on the relatively flat walk with some stairs. Just a short drive from Launceston. Camping ground on site with electrical BBQ stations and rest rooms."
