Welcome to South Metropolitan TAFE Naval Base Campus, a state-of-the-art institution located at Naval Base, Hope Valley Road, 41 in Australia. Established in 2019, our campus is specifically designed to provide students and apprentices with hands-on experience in a real-life industry setting.

At Naval Base Campus, we focus on delivering training in heavy fabrication, marine fabrication, welding, and composite apprenticeship programs, with a particular emphasis on Western Australia's thriving shipbuilding industry. Our purpose-built workshops are equipped with cutting-edge facilities to ensure an optimal learning experience for our students.

Our fabrication workshop boasts 45 welding bays that are constructed and equipped for multi-use. Additionally, we have a machine shop, electrical workshop, and supporting classrooms to cater to the diverse needs of our students. While there is no cafeteria on campus, we provide a student lunch room with heating facilities and hot water, as well as an outdoor area for relaxation. For more substantial dining options, a lunch bar is conveniently located within walking distance or a short drive away.

To keep our students refreshed throughout the day, vending machines are available on campus, offering a variety of drinks and snacks. We also encourage visitors to take advantage of our Smart Travel information to ease congestion on and around our campuses.

When it comes to transportation, Naval Base Campus is easily accessible via bus stops on Stock Road, just a three-minute walk from campus. For those driving, ample parking is available surrounding the campus buildings, accessible via Hope Valley Road.

At South Metropolitan TAFE Naval Base Campus, we offer a range of trade programs to kickstart your career. Become a tradesperson working with composites/fiberglass within the metal, engineering, manufacturing, and associated industries. Our Composites Apprenticeship provides the necessary skills and knowledge for working in composites manufacturing or repair organizations, marine, vehicle, or other related industries.

Alternatively, start your trades career as a boilermaker, welder, or fabricator by completing the Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade (Boilermaking/Welding). This program equips you with practical knowledge and hands-on skills in fabrication and welding, preparing you for a career in industries such as mining or construction.

For those interested in the exciting marine craft construction industry, our qualification in marine craft construction covers all aspects of the construction process, from design and drawing to timber construction of plugs and composite molds and products. This program opens doors to opportunities in manufacturing or repair organizations producing various marine craft, from kayaks to superyachts.
