"Their 3rd party car insurance is the least helpful... no car hire offer for a week after the accident. Always said need to wait for the mechanic report, but NOTHING offer during the NO estimated date waiting. No one working during Sat or Sun on claim phone line and no other way to contact. They just dont want to pay a dollar for your lost!!"

"At the onset I will state that CGU denied my daughters water leak claim. My daughter has a busy job therefore being retired i undertook to interact with her insurer. This is not about the denial, this is about the intolerable customer service I received at the hands of this organisation. Never returning phone calls in a timely manner, sometimes never!. Not having the story correct as i spoke with several people. This tells me their claim notes are poor. When i advised one of the claims officers of the poor service, his response was what do you expect we are working from home!. Sometimes never responding to emails with questions, asking on 3 occasions can i be sent just the section of the policy that states water leaks on the verandah, only got this in denial letter. The definition of customer service states ......"Good customer service typically means providing timely, attentive, upbeat service to a customer, and making sure their needs are met in a manner that reflects positively on the company or business" ...... CGU know nothing about good or timely customer service. They demonstrated that over and over, go else where. The amount of hours I put into calls/emails to CGU was amazing. Yes it was a messy claim, but considering the claim was for a water leak (could cost hundreds of dollars in water bills). They first stated that after the first refusal, they would take up to 3 weeks to review!."

"Set up a policy for car insurance with an excess of $900. Tried to put in a claim and was informed that I had to pay the excess of $900, I received an email, text message and spoken confirmation of this. I was then contacted later and informed that I had to pay $1400 due to an age excess that I was not informed about when I set up the claim, nor was I informed about when I originally spoke to the claims department. They refused to offer compensation for their mistake and essentially told me to either pay the full amount or go to hell. I will never insure with them again. If I could give 0 stars I would."

"Having paid insurance of over $4000 a year (Im on a Disability pension so have endured finacial hardship to do this) when Ive lodged my claim on a near 4yr old 524lt freezer that was found to be not working (yep, loaded with meat/fish) on Sunday 23/6 (I live over 100ks from Darwin) by visiters, they loaded it (freezer) with a backhoe and dumped it! This I could have no way in my limited capacity have done this on my own, I did get a photo of the serial number, CGU is open Monday to Friday so 1st thing Monday 24/6 I ring to notify them of my claim now being told I should have got someone to inspect it! Who? How? On a Sunday? or empty it! Who is going to do that? How was I to do that? They are just another insurance scammer, avoid like the plague."
