About the Business
Welcome to Rural Medical Education Australia, located in East Toowoomba on Hume Street. As an establishment focused on health and education, we are a point of interest and a university dedicated to providing exceptional medical training in a rural setting.
We are pleased to announce that we are currently offering 'Pathway to Health' Scholarships, providing the opportunity to receive training locally in Kingaroy for a Certificate III in Health Services Assistance. This is just one of the many ways we strive to support and encourage individuals to pursue a career in the health industry.
At Rural Medical Education Australia, we are proud of the impact our programs have on rural communities. A remarkable 33.3% of Griffith rural graduates choose to remain in the rural workforce after completing 12 months in our LongLook program, and an impressive 69.2% remain after 24 months. This demonstrates the success and effectiveness of our approach to rural medical education.
Our institution is committed to advancing medical research in rural areas. We have successfully undertaken 7 rural-focused research projects, 6 student-led projects, and 6 medical education projects. Additionally, we have secured 3 external grants and published 10 research publications. By actively engaging in research, we contribute to the knowledge and understanding of healthcare in rural communities.
To ensure the best possible education and training experience, we offer 12 Aspire2Health High Schools and collaborate with 22 General Practices. We also have 5 Clinical Training Centres located at Rural Hospitals, providing students with hands-on experience in a real-world medical setting.
Accommodation is an important aspect of a student's experience, which is why we provide 7 RuralMedEd Student Accommodation facilities with a total of 44 beds, as well as 3 Griffith Student Accommodation facilities with 50 beds. We understand the importance of creating a supportive and comfortable environment for our students.
Our team of qualified and experienced clinical academic educators are dedicated to delivering the Griffith University 3rd and 4th year rural medical student program. We also offer general practice exam preparation programs and VET training. With our locally-based, locally-led, and locally-governed approach, we ensure a focused rural stream for the Griffith University School of Medicine and Dentistry.
Collaboration is vital to our success, which is why we have partnered with Griffith University to deliver their rural clinical program. This program is funded by the Commonwealth Government Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training program. By working closely with Griffith University, we are able to provide exceptional medical education opportunities to our students.
Our research program is supported by clinical research academics who live and work in rural Queensland. This ensures that our research is relevant, impactful, and directly benefits the communities we serve.
We are proud to have received funding from Destination Australia, allowing us to offer 10 scholarships for a Cert IV in Allied Health Assistance. This initiative further demonstrates our commitment to providing educational opportunities to individuals interested in pursuing a career in the health field.
Lastly, our Considering Medicine and Aspire2Health high school programs are designed to increase the number of rural and indigenous students graduating from health courses. By actively engaging with these students, we hope to inspire and support the next generation of healthcare professionals.
At Rural Medical Education Australia, we are dedicated to providing exceptional medical education in a rural setting. Join us in shaping the future of healthcare in Australia. Apply now and embark on a rewarding and fulfilling journey towards a career in the health industry.
