Reviews of Basin Cafe
"Expensive and inedible. Ordered toast, mushrooms and avocado - 1 slice of bread cut in 2 cost $6, the mushrooms the same but atleast a good serving size (unfortunately the oil wasn’t drained off them and they were absolutely drenched in garlic) for the $5/$6 I paid for the avocado I’d expect a bit more than the little sauce tub I got. No butter for the toast either… sloppy, oily, disappointing. Girl on the register didn’t seem to thrilled to be working either, not a very inviting place."
"The server was so friendly and recommended us the best view seat. The chicken waffle was amazing! Beautiful presentation and tastes so good! Will be happy to go back again"
"I had a very unpleasant experience when I went to have breakfast yesterday morning at this cafe. The cafe was filled out since it was the Saturday after Easter, which is always a difficult time. In the crowded cafe, there was a tourist family of 4 from Africa who had a table with only 3 chairs. So the dad went around the cafe and found an empty chair and got it back to sit down and eat breakfast with his family. To my surprise, a waitresses followed him back after a few minutes and very loudly told him off for taking a chair from the table which had no people There were quite a few empty chairs all around the cafe. There is no reason why she couldn't pick one up and request the family to change chairs if the original ones were so important to the decor. Basic hospitality. The reserved table had 6 empty chairs and was sitting idle for 45 minutes and could have been replaced with the extra chairs available in back the cafe when required The gentleman was so embarrassed because his children and family were watching this entire scene during their holiday season. I couldn't drink the coffee after that and was embarrassed for a second to be an Australian since I know this is not a reflection of our culture. I hope the establishment and the waitress grow up and realise that this behaviour would slowly but surely reduce tourists from other countries."
