"Such good food!! We had a baby recently and only managed to wrangle Nanna for an hour last weekend to babysit so my wife and I could go out for a meal. We made a beeline to Timbre, the set menu is always considered and amazing and we leave discussing our favorite tastes and flavors and presentations as though we're experts. The whole team do a great job, such great service and atmosphere - I'll be 40 soon and on a good day I still consider myself to be pretty cool, but the wait staff here are SO cool. Not try hard barista with a handlebar moustache cool, more like a classy and professional effortless cool - the bloke who served us had a subtle yet intricate sleeve tattoo that made me envious, self condcious and inferior all at once. There's also a dude who I see there from time to time who might be the owner or head chef? I get the sense he's perhaps the mastermind pulling the strings - have you seen The Bear, that restaurant show on HBO? Well this dude was the Bear from the Bear show long before the Bear was even a show, right down to the white tee and scruffy hair. Well done mystery fellow if you are in fact orchestrating the whole thing - which I suspect you might be. Jokes aside, this is one of the best dining experiences you can get in Launceston, so please support this business if you get a chance."
"What a good find about 15min out of Launceston! Timbre Kitchen is a great little restaurant at Velo Wines in the Tamar Valley. Modern Australian food with some international influences, all locally sourced in Tasmania, with some ingredients grown on the vineyard. They only offer a set sharing menu for dinner and do the same set menu for lunch plus the option to do a la carte. So we ordered the deluxe version of the sharing menu plus we had the grilled cheese and chips. Service was on point and the dishes were full of flavour and enough for 2 people. Overall the food was delicious but there were some dishes that were a bit too salty to our liking: the roast pork, chicken dish and the chips. We can see where they were going with the roast pork and the chicken, they would have been amazing dishes if the salt was toned down just a tad bit. Standout dishes for the night were the beef crudo (similar to a steal tartare), grilled cheese and the caramel mousse with honeycomb dessert. The brussels sprouts and the cabbage with chilli oil were surprisingly good! It was a lovely start to our holiday in Tassie. If we were to come back next time, I would skip the sides and go with a 2nd dessert!"
"Fantastic meal. Chose here for our special dining experience while touring Tasmania and were not disappointed. Chose the $75pp tasting option and all were happy with their meals. Catered for our coeliac daughter brilliantly. Staff were attentive and super friendly."
"A hidden gem serving really beautiful food along with friendly service in a lovely setting. Just 10 min outside of Launceston - so close and convenient. Large modern open & airy dining space which opens out onto a sunny terrace overlooking the vines belonging to Velo Wines. BTW the Velo cellar door is right next to the restaurant entrance so do pop in there before or afterwards - excellent wines. The food served is all locally sourced and is beautifully prepared and presented. Dished are all made to share. We went with the banquet option - a chance to try lots of different things, and perhaps try a few things you ordinary would order for yourself! The food comes in 3 courses and there’s plenty of it. Excellent value for money. Highly recommended."
