"Great to get second hand without too much spending for new."
"Op shops are getting ridiculous in Darwin. Shameful service. Supposed to help people, not be money hungry."
"The store itself has a great range, is tidy and has a decent book collection. The only reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 is that while there a woman told me that she was sleeping at the yard and asked could I buy her some sheets and clothes. Without hesitation I agreed and asked her to pick out what she wanted. One of the staff looked and me and mouthed not to do it, which made me uncomfortable as I am perfectly entitled to spend my own money as I wish and have the ability to decide for myself without another’s input. The woman chose a couple of blankets and some children’s clothing. We got to the counter and the staff member began to quietly scold the woman and told her she couldn’t come in asking people to buy things as it scares customers off. Looking back I wish I had asked her to keep it to herself but I was so shocked that it was even happening - in a CHARITY shop!? The total came to $39 and the staff member looked at me as though surely I wasn’t serious. I nodded as I was happy to continue to the purchasing process. She got the eftpos ready for me to pay and while doing so the staff member just shook her head. I’m still unsure of what the staff member was trying to achieve and pretty appalled to be honest. The fact that I was happy to purchase some bedding and clothes for children meant that the woman I was buying them for, some children, AND the shop all benefited. If I was just buying what my partner and I went there for which was a couple of books, then I would have only spent $5. Instead, I was able to purchase $44 worth of items. Maybe the staff here need a reminder that the purpose of a charity shop is to help those in need. The best way to do that is without judgement, or belief that you know what’s best for others. Giving without expectation is definitively what “giving” is. This experience left a bad taste in my mouth"
"This is the best op shop in Darwin. Not over priced. Well worth a browse."
