We are delighted to announce that the popular Castle Hill walking tracks will be re-opened to foot traffic from this Saturday, following recent Queensland Government announcements relaxing some of the COVID-19 physical distancing rules across the state. These tracks, along with Kissing Point walking tracks, were temporarily closed on April 2 as part of the city's efforts to slow the spread of coronavirus.
Understanding the significance of Castle Hill as one of the community's favorite outdoor fitness destinations, the decision to close the tracks entirely was a difficult one. However, we are thrilled to be able to welcome back the community to enjoy these beautiful trails once again.
The Queensland Government's three-stage easing of restrictions allows for outdoor activities, and we believe that reopening the walking tracks is appropriate and will be welcomed news for many in the community. We want to express our gratitude to the Townsville community for their efforts in stopping the spread of coronavirus, which has made these relaxations possible.
However, it is crucial to remember that we are not completely out of the woods yet. We urge the Townsville community to continue practicing social distancing and maintaining enhanced hygiene practices. If you're feeling unwell, we kindly ask that you stay home and seek advice from 13HEALTH or your doctor.
