Reviews of Pelican Cafe
"Friendly and approachable people here. The food is very tasty and well presented. You’ve got a choice to sit inside, upstairs in a cozy loft space or out on the balcony to watch the ferries and hope the resident magpies don’t trick you and steal your food haha. Really enjoyed my time here today and will be back soon! Thanks Team Pelican."
"Today's café experience was a bit of a mixed bag. We were looking forward to a relaxing breakfast. We ordered 2 eggs Benedict with smoked salmon and 2 chai lattes in a mug. Unfortunately, the experience didn't start on the right foot. The first disappointment came with the chai lattes. Took 15-20 minutes to arrive. They were extremely watery, lacking the rich and flavorful chai taste we were hoping for. After what felt like an eternity, our food finally arrived 40 minutes later, but unfortunately, it was served cold. Cold eggs Benedict are far from enjoyable, and it was clear that the kitchen had let us down on this front. To add to the list of letdowns, we had to chase up the staff for cutlery. It's basic cafe etiquette to have cutlery readily available for patrons, and it was disheartening to have to remind them of such a simple necessity. Cutlery was brought to us in a kitchen basket & left on the table for us to sort through. In an attempt to salvage the experience, we decided to ask for the chai lattes to be remade. However, even with the request, the second round of chai lattes came out straight away and tasted exactly the same as the first. There was no improvement in their quality, which was quite disappointing, especially considering that the cafe didn't seem to be overly busy with several vacant tables. On a more positive note, we appreciated the ambiance of the café. The overall view was indeed lovely, and had the food and drinks lived up to expectations, it could have been a much better experience. In conclusion, our café experience today was marred by several unfortunate issues. The slow service, watery chai lattes, cold food, and lack of attentiveness from the staff left us feeling disappointed. Despite the charming ambiance, we left with a sense of dissatisfaction. We hope that the café management takes these criticisms constructively to improve their offerings and provide a better experience for future customers."
"Now we didn't eat here, although the place smelt wonderful when I entered. I was actually just looking for an ice block or ice cream for my kids. I don't think they just had it out for sale but the young guy who sold me said they had some vanilla and could go get some cones. He didn't have to do this and I was extremely grateful for the wonderful service. Made my kids very happy to receive an ice-cream on a hot day. I hadn't been here before, or even to Redland Bay, and hopefully will get tine to stop and have some food when we are there next. I loved the feel.of the Cafe. The views were beautiful and loved the feel of the interior decor. Cheers."
"Have taken my elderly dad a few times in past month and we’ve sat under the trees downstairs. Beautiful setting and service. Loved the beetroot and ginger cake. yummo."
"I accidentally arrived late so the kitchen was already closed but the atmosphere is literally just like what you will imagine if a normal cafe next to a port. Pretty interest vibe and the wind breeze was nice and cool for a hot weather. They don’t sell fish & chips."
