Marineland Melanesia - Crocodile Habitat & Gift Shop
About the Business
Welcome to Marineland Melanesia - Crocodile Habitat & Gift Shop, located on Green Island, Esplanade, 1 in Australia. As a unique establishment, museum, point of interest, store, tourist attraction, and zoo, we offer a one-of-a-kind experience for visitors.
Marineland Croc Park is a family owned and operated business, making it the only coral cay with Crocodiles on the Great Barrier Reef. We are proud to be the only family owned and operated business based on such a popular tourist attraction as Green Island. Our park has been home for over 40 years and four generations are still living and working here. Despite the changes that have occurred on the island, we are dedicated to preserving the character of our family attraction.
Established in 1954 as 'Marineland' and later becoming 'Marineland Croc Park' in 1971, our park showcases an incredible collection of Crocodiles and Melanesian Tribal Artifacts. George Craig, the founder, started his journey over 40 years ago in Papua New Guinea, and now his life's work is proudly on display alongside our beautiful Reef Aquariums, Marine Turtles, historical nautical relics, and restored stationary engines.
When you visit Marineland Croc Park, you will feel as if you are somewhere undiscovered. Explore the unique artifacts from the Melanesian jungle while giant Crocodile beasts watch over you. Relax in our calming tropical fish arcade and observe the underwater world go by.
One of our most famous residents is Cassius, the Island's king, a 5.48-meter saltwater crocodile who has called Marineland home for almost 30 years. We have around 50 Crocodiles on display, ranging from baby hatchlings to living dinosaurs like Cassius. In fact, Cassius joined the Guinness Book of World Records in 2012 as the 'LARGEST CROCODILE IN CAPTIVITY'!
In addition to our Crocodile habitat, we also have beautiful Reef Aquariums that allow you to see amazing sealife without getting wet. You'll witness the same fish and coral that you can find in the surrounding waters of the island, as well as some more unique creatures like the deadly Stonefish, cute Clownfish, Epaulette Sharks, Turtles, Lion Fish, and Giant Painted Crayfish.
Don't forget to visit our extensive gift shop, where you'll find something for everyone. We offer the most competitive prices on the island, so you're sure to find something you love. Our range of individually chosen gemstone and coral jewelry is particularly popular, and we also have a great selection of souvenirs for both kids and adults, including genuine crocodile teeth and leather. Additionally, we have all the essential items you'll need for a day at the beach or out at the reef, such as swimwear, casual shoes, beachwear, beach toys, sunscreen, hats, memory cards, cameras, sunglasses, snorkeling sets, and Green Island T-shirts.
We accept Cash, Visacard, Mastercard, American Express, JCB Card, EFTPOS, travelers' checks, and Foreign Currency.

"I went here with my 2 kids under 5 and wife to see crocodiles. We went during feeding time at 10:30 AM local time - STRONG recommendation to go during feeding. The staff were very knowledgeable and helpful. Entry was very quick and we spent about an hour here which I felt was a good balance for the kids' short attention spans. They had many more crocodiles than I expected (and a hawkbill sea turtle) and I learned a ton! It was great to see these predators up close. This has been one of the highlights of our trip to Australia and I would recommend checking this out for sure if you're in the Cairns area."
"Amazing! The crocs are well looked after, there was way more than I was expecting! The croc feeding show was so much fun and informative! You’re able to come and go as much as you’d like for the $25 entry fee. Well worth it!! Even got to feed the turtle Billie"
"After visiting as a child, I was beyond thrilled to walk in and see nothing has changed (in the best way possible). This place has a small family owned charm like nothing else. The staff know each croc individually and you can see they are lovingly cared for. This may not be the biggest or flashiest crock park in the area (Cairns) but it absolutely has the most heart. Meeting the owner, George on my way out totally made my day!"
"What a cool park in the middle of this island! Even though I only had about 2 hours on land in between dives, my partner convinced me that I needed to come visit Marineland and I'm so glad he did. The Crocs were so impressive and the whole park was filled to the brim with artefacts and information. Very impressive!"
"Josh was such a lovely guide, introducing us to all the inhabitants and telling us their backstory. We were lucky to go during a quiet time so we had the place to ourselves and got to meet the world's largest crocodile in captivity - Cassius. Learned so much about these fascinating, awe inspiring creatures and the experience was made that much better by the friendly staff. Definitely head here if you visit Green Island."
