Despite our best efforts, we have been unable to recruit the specialist obstetricians and paediatricians necessary to ensure the safety of our patients. Our top priority is always the safety of our patients, and without an adequate number of qualified doctors, we are unable to provide the high level of care required for mothers and their babies.

We understand that this news may be disappointing and distressing for some patients. Rest assured, we are working closely with our obstetricians and expecting parents to ensure that everyone is aware of alternative options and the healthcare providers who will be available to support them during labor. We have engaged in discussions with Cairns Public Hospital, who have assured us that they have the capacity to accommodate the additional births.

While we are disappointed to discontinue this service, we want to reassure the local community that we remain committed to providing high-quality private healthcare in Cairns. We currently have a $20 million development underway, which includes the creation of two additional operating theatres and a state-of-the-art sterilizing department. Moreover, we have recently acquired land for future expansion, installed solar panels to reduce our carbon footprint, and expanded our services to include community psychology and allied health services through Ramsay Psychology and Ramsay Health Plus clinics. Additionally, we have invested $500,000 in equipment to support our expanding ENT service, which now includes two new ENT surgeons.

For convenient access to respected local GPs, we offer the After Hours GP Clinic at Cairns Private Hospital. This appointment-based service operates on weekday evenings as well as weekend afternoons and early evenings. Located within the hospital, the clinic has easy access to pathology, radiology, and pharmacy services. To make an appointment, please call 4052 5305 after 12 pm. Patients can expect longer GP appointments of at least 30 minutes, with minimal wait times. The clinic aims to complement the services provided by regular GPs.
