"AVOID! Stayed here 1st-5th February 2023. Staff member stole my wallet and laptop from my room while I was out and used my credit card at the servo across the road. Manager was no help and didn’t believe any of the staff would do that. Do not recommend!"
"Stayed here for 3 nights in Cairns found the staff always helpful short walk to shops . Rooms clean & tidy we'll be back next time."
"Stayed here to catch up with family. There was 6 in our party arriving and departing on staggered dates. Staff were warm, welcoming and engaging. Easy check in. Rooms (3) we occupied were renovated/refurbished and clean comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay of 5 days. Our rooms faced Sheridan Street and sleep came easy in the comfortable bed. 10 minute walk into the CBD, restaurants and The Esplanade. Parking was easily arranged. All the staff we encountered were smiling and friendly. Nothing was a trouble. We'd stay there again. Pic doesn't do the view justice but the view of the mountains was nice to wake up to in the morning."
"Stayed for 1 night. Bed was firm and very comfortable. Pillows and sheets were beautiful quality. The shower was hot with bar soap only, however accompanied shampoo and conditioner. Balcony overlooked the road and only had 2 chairs and no table. Great value for money for 1 night. The only complaint was that the PowerPoints next to bed were under the bedside table that was attached to the bed. I had to sit on the floor with my phone torch to find the plug."
"I am a regular traveler for business and my stay at the Sunshine Tower Hotel, was probably one of the worst I have ever experienced in the past 20 years. I was advised on check in that the hotel was being renovated and that I would be given a free coffee at the cafe down the road (Which was great) for my inconvenience. I would have happily paid for the coffee had I known what I know now. On arriving on my floor, I was greeted by a bare concrete hallway. Yes, I was advised of renovations, however I was not prepared for the fact that this became a noisy wind tunnel and I had to block the noise coming from under my door and into my room, with the towels I had been given to shower. On entering the room, I noticed it had been renovated and it looked nice, although everything was very cheap and Kmart-esque! I was however, missing some of the usual amenities which I take for granted in a hotel, including a box of tissues and a clothes airer to hang my wet items on. Washing my used dinner plate in the ensuite bathroom was also an experience, not only did the sink plug not keep the water in, but the plate did not fit in the sink by any way, shape or form, and I had to try to badly rinse it off, getting water and food everywhere. To top off my experience, the walls of the room were paper thin and my first night was spent listening to my drunk neighbours complaining loudly that they had to pick their vomit out of the sink (That dreaded ensuite again!) and that they were worried they would have to pay for the damage (So they should have), while my second night included a late night visit from the local police, due to several hours of domestic abuse occurring on my floor (Yes, I know not the fault of the hotel, but you get the picture, two nights of very little sleep and lots of noise and disturbance.) I sometimes think, it would be great for the owners of these properties to put their 'guest experience hat on' and experience these rooms as a guest would, not renovating to keep costs down while providing a sub-standard experience. It was disappointing, but the coffee was good."
