Rowes Bay Sustainability Centre And Wetlands
About the Business
Welcome to the Rowes Bay Sustainability Centre and Wetlands, located at 56 Cape Pallarenda Road in beautiful Rowes Bay, Australia. Our institution is a unique establishment that combines education, conservation, and nature exploration, making it a must-visit point of interest in Townsville.
At the Rowes Bay Sustainability Centre, we are passionate about promoting sustainable living and protecting the environment. Our tours offer a fantastic opportunity to learn about sustainable practices and discover the hidden wonders of Townsville's wetlands.
Depending on your specific learning requirements, our tours can be facilitated in three different locations. First, the Rowes Bay Sustainability House and Garden will teach you how a sustainable home can reduce your environmental impact, save water and energy, and utilize natural resources available on-site. Explore our demonstration home and garden to gain practical knowledge on sustainable living.
Next, venture to the Rowes Bay Wetland and Boardwalk to understand the vital role wetlands play in protecting our precious reefs. Discover how technology can be used to study and learn from our environment, and gain an appreciation for the native plants and trees that thrive in this unique ecosystem.
Finally, take a stroll along the shifting sands of the Rowes Bay Foreshore and learn about the importance of coastal dunes in safeguarding against natural disasters. This interactive experience will provide valuable insights into the power of nature and the significance of preserving our coastlines.
Our tours are available Monday to Friday from February to October, and each session typically lasts between 1 to 3 hours, depending on the specific tour requirements. We cater to one class or group per session, with a maximum of 30 participants.
To find us, simply turn onto Cape Pallarenda Road, drive past Mundy Creek bridge, and you'll spot the Rowes Bay Sustainability Centre just after the RSL Nursing Home on the left. If you're arriving by bus, please park in the angle carpark opposite the center, and a friendly Council Officer will meet you on-site.
For the safety and comfort of all participants, it is essential that everyone wears closed-in footwear, sunscreen, and a hat during the tours. Please also take the time to read our Risk Assessment Form for more information on risk assessment procedures.
Before confirming your tour booking, we kindly ask that you read and understand our Terms and Conditions. We strive to provide an enriching and enjoyable experience for all visitors, and we look forward to welcoming you to the Rowes Bay Sustainability Centre and Wetlands soon.

Reviews
"Quite a variety of local plants and handy cards describing each one."
"It was in the dry season, the place was dry as a bone. Not very well maintained tracks, maybe give it a try in the wet season"
"Great place to see what you can do around your house to be more sustainable and save money while doing it. The staff are really friendly and happy to help in anyway they can. Also an awesome place to spot native birds and butterflies!"
"Haven't seen a wind turbine for a while."
"Wow, very poor and total waste of time at best. Received conflicting information about access, much of the cottage and grounds not accessible or dead or broken. A real shame."
