"This morning took South African friends to Skyrail this morning only to find sandwich board out front, scan code and book. No availabily for service for 2 days??? No notice to advise not running...A taxi pulls up and couple gets out - we told them not working. Told they were off the cruiseship for the day, lucky taxi hadn't driven off. Another group of people arrive from Melbourne and go through process, no availability. Ring contact # and told no availability for 2 days suggested signage should be put up to advise people up ,only to be told its on website. As a local wanting to promote our region, I was terribly embarrassed and disappointed. Staff were not helpful. Need to lift your game Skyrail. Driving off another big group arrived."
"Smithfield Terminal Visited on 16/7/2022 It is great to have whole day free parking so that tourists can enjoy the day out without worry feeding parking meter or get booked. The Smithfield Terminal also provides shuttle service to ferry visitors going to Kuranda by the scenic train to the Clearwater Station. Smithfield Terminal building is bright and big enough to accommodate all the visitors going upon a single trip. It has a lot of promotional information, from the ceiling, and on the walls. Visitors with smart devices can download an App to benefit from the AR commentory broadcast when they reach certain points high up in the gondola or walk paths in other stations. Do not expect any tall trees or on undergrowth at this terminal. This is at ground level. The gates finally open, and my travelling group of 4 get into the gondola. Each gondola can sit 6, and some with glass bottom. Once the door is closed, the journey to the next station, Red Peak, begins."
"I would like to give a massive thanks to Dinola, an amazing lady in the gift shop who personally delivered our photo to our hotel after we had paid for and accidentally left it there. Thank you so much!!"
"Not worth it. For $50 each I didn't feel we got vale for money. We took the train up and the sky rail back down with a packaged bus connection. The top station had massive queues despite pre scheduled ticket times. A lack of signage led to staff answering the same questions repeatedly. Despite having arrived on time for our booking we had to skip exploring one of the mid-stations in order to make our packaged bus transfer. The bus collection point similarly lacked signage and led to a number of costomers simply getting sick of the process. The views from the sky rail are good but not so amazing that I would recommend the experience to anyone. Driver Lara - gave a fantastic commentary on bus"
"While kuranda might be a little bit too touristy the train ride up the mountain and down on sky rail was nothing short of amazing. I went during the wet season and the whole rainforest was just breath taking. Awesome experience"
