Welcome to the City of Cairns Highland and Irish Dancers! Established in 1983 by our Founding Principal Teacher, Mrs Jacqueline Wilson, our institution is dedicated to providing professional tuition in Irish and Highland dancing. Located in Bungalow, Lazarus Street, we are a point of interest in the vibrant city of Cairns, Australia.

At the City of Cairns Highland and Irish Dancers, we pride ourselves on our commitment to developing correct technique, discipline, and performance skills in a caring learning environment. Each student's abilities and strengths are nurtured individually, ensuring their growth and progress in the world of dance.

Our talented dancers regularly compete at Highland and Irish dancing competitions throughout Queensland and Interstate, showcasing their skills and passion for the art form. They have also been in high demand to entertain at various events, including Civic Functions, Corporate Events, St. Patrick's Day celebrations, School Fetes, and Nursing Homes.

Our dancers have achieved great success and recognition internationally, as some have joined the prestigious OzScot Australia Highland Dancing Team. They have performed at renowned events such as the Edinburgh Military Tattoo in Scotland, the Oman Tattoo in Oman, the Virginia International Tattoo in the USA, the Basel International Tattoo in Switzerland, the 2010 Edinburgh Military Tattoo in Sydney, the Rotterdam International Tattoo in Rotterdam, Holland, the Nova Scotia Tattoo in Canada, and the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo in Melbourne, Australia.

Mrs Jacqueline Wilson, our esteemed Founding Principal, represented Australia on the judging panel of the 2014 World Highland Dancing Championships in Dunoon, Scotland. She has also judged various championships throughout Australia, New Zealand, and Scotland. After 40 years of dedicated teaching, Mrs Wilson has retired to take a well-deserved break, leaving behind a legacy of excellence.

As we embark on a new chapter, we are thrilled to welcome Jacqueline Gorjup TCRG as our Irish Dancing Teacher and Rachael Fullston NDAAI as our Highland Dancing Teacher from 2023. Both Jacqueline and Rachael bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to their roles, ensuring the continuation of high-quality instruction in Irish and Highland dancing in Cairns.
