Goodstart Early Learning Douglas
About the Business
Welcome to Goodstart Early Learning Douglas! Our child care centre is conveniently located at 110 Angus Smith Drive in Douglas, Australia. As a point of interest and establishment, we strive to provide a nurturing and educational environment for children of all ages.
At Goodstart Douglas, we understand the importance of affordability when it comes to child care. That's why we offer an estimator tool to help you determine your eligibility for the Child Care Subsidy. We also have a user-friendly vacancy search feature, making it easy for you to find the perfect fit for your child.
But our commitment to your child's learning doesn't stop at our centre. Goodstart at Home is a program designed to enrich and extend your child's learning through play, even when they're at home.
Located in close proximity to three of Townsville's largest workforces, our centre is nestled between the Townsville Hospital and James Cook University Campus, with Lavarack Barracks just a stone's throw away. We are also conveniently close to local schools and shops.
Inside our centre, you'll find rooms tailored to each age group, from Nursery to Kindergarten, as well as before and after school care. All of these rooms are set up in line with an Early Years Learning Framework, providing sensory and play-based learning opportunities. Our colourful and stimulating surroundings ensure that children have the chance to grow and develop through engaging activities.
Outside, we have two age-appropriate play areas with a variety of play spaces and equipment. These areas can be opened up to create one large play space, featuring a mix of manmade and natural surfaces. With lots of shade, a sensory path, bark pits, a bike track, and swings, our outdoor spaces provide endless fun and exploration.
Community is an important aspect of our centre. Throughout the year, we participate in events and activities to enrich the learning experience. Daily art and music experiences allow children to freely express their creativity.
Our centre is surrounded by the beautiful Mount Stuart and natural bushland, creating a peaceful and "country-like" playground setting.
We invite you to visit our centre and meet our friendly staff who would love to show you what we have to offer your family. Our Centre Director, Aimee, has over 20 years of experience in the Early Childhood Industry, with 10 years as a Centre Director. She holds an Advanced Diploma of Early Childhood and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. Aimee believes in providing warm and welcoming environments with endless opportunities for children to thrive.
Parking is made easy with our large carpark facilities, including a childcare drop off zone for parents' convenience. To find us, simply turn into the hospital grounds off Angus Smith Drive and turn right at the first roundabout. Our centre is located behind the Medi Link centre.
Goodstart Early Learning is proud to be Australia's largest early learning provider and a not-for-profit organization. We have been recognized as a Child Safe Organisation and we acknowledge and respect the cultural and spiritual connection of First Nations peoples to the land, sky, and waterways.
Join us at Goodstart Early Learning Douglas and make the early years learning experience memorable for your child.

"There was no flawing them."
"This is an excellent centre. The staff and director are friendly and accommodating. Moving from a much larger centre, my son has found the transition easy and enjoys attending kindy much more now. Highly recommend."
"My wife and I did a tour on this place Aug 2019, looking for a place for our child. It was 6 months after the floods and we were told by the centre director that there are vacancies. We put in our application form and was told that they will get back to us in Dec. Fast forward to early Jan 2020. We got worried that they did not call us so we contacted the centre. They informed us that they could not find our application form! When we enquired about vacancies then, we were told that they were full. Obviously we were not happy but did not want to pursue the matter. The director then told us they had to accommodate kids from other centers because of the floods. Mind you, we came about six months after the floods and was told that there were vacancies. Either they could not get their act together, or they lied to us, in order to cover for their mistake. Either way, a disorganised centre that loses application forms and potentially lying to cover their mistakes are warning signs for us to get out before bad things happen to our child. Interestingly another colleague of us told of a similar story from this centre. Lost application forms and subsequent misrepresentation of truth to cover up. Just be wary when you apply."
"GoodStart Early Learning has and continues to cater so specifically for my son’s needs. They are amazing and so patient. I recommend it to anyone looking for a great daycare for their child."
