Reviews
"I cannot speak higher of this restaurant. Family owned and operated, great atmosphere, very welcoming, and delicious food. No idea how they manage to pull all this off while being so busy and run off their feet!"
"Matsuri buys in excellent fresh produce and converts it with old fashioned Japanese recipes to a high standard. Value for money is very good, friendly staff, nice simple venue and consistency over the 15 years I have enjoyed meals at Matsuri. I am sad to read the two reviews in the past week from people who have marked Matsuri as 1, I believe these people without any profile and no feedback are fake people leaving spiteful negative attack reviews. Don't pay any attention to these reviews. Matsuri is the real deal, give it a try and before you know it, you will have been enjoying their wonderful meals in 10 years time."
"Omg! I cannot rave about this place enough. The food here is amazing and authentic! We had dinner there the first time and we had to go back a second time. If raw octopus in wasabi is not your thing, the other menu items will impress you. The katsu chicken was fried beautifully. Soft and crunchy on the outside and tender and juicy inside. The ramen was so tasty and full of flavour. Even the fried Tuna pieces. Divine! I will definitely be back here when I visit Cairns again. We spoke to the friendly owner and he has been running this family business for 18 years. What a hidden gem."
"Come early as they don’t take bookings. Don’t worry too muxh if they tell you it’s a 40-min wait (it’s not really, although your food won’t come out all together). The food is authentic and excellent!! We had (and loved!) gyoza, agedashi tofu, chicken katsu, sushi, miso soba, and tempura udon. Fantastic food!!!"
"The environment was alright and the staffs are nice. I love Japanese food but I will never recommend this restaurant. The food was really under my expectations with this price. It was really disappointed. I ordered a ramen and it just looked like homemade instant noodles with some chilli oil and a little bit mix frozen sea food which you can buy in the Asian shop. And it was small but cost you $28. Just don't go there you will get much better food with the same price."
